I think that's mainly because he was a sensation at centre. Remember he's just a kid still. It seems like years ago he started that ears thing. Long before he even played any rep footy. Big dreams for a kid to have to play for kangaroos when he hadn't even had a full-time first grade spot yet. Or was it that? Hee Hee.I'm not sold on Latrell as a FB. He was at best third choice at Easts behind Tedesco and Manu.

Gees, then Manlys wombat (Graham Eadie) would have been in the pool.Easts didn't even deem him their best centre.
It was years ago, at least one new Eastern Suburbs contract ago.
But then again, i guess GI always had secret desires to leave Souths and play for Cessnock Goannas eventually.
Or maybe, just maybe, they're related to spirit animals and Indigenous culture. Nothing to do with footy.
Correct Pete, sound exactly right.Totally untrue. Souths would have put themselves way over the cap. It sounds like tigers fans not wanting to admit Latrell wanted nothing to do with them.
@Souths Till I Die that to me would be the best spine in the comp providing Mitchell could become fit enough to handle the workload at fullback which I think he can!It seems as if Latrell and Cody are destined to play with each other. Every time Latrell comes up in media articles Cody Walker’s name somehow appears. The idea that our spine could potentially be
1. Mitchell
6. Walker
7. Reynolds
9. Cook
Is quite exciting. I could imagine all of them have played together at some point too considering they’re all NSW reps. I actually rate that more than any other spine in the comp.
'Bout time some one was a bit sensible. To compare Mitchell to Inglis is ludicrous, I'd rather Souths chased the other Rooster centre, he's a much better footballer, Mitchell is a petulant child who has now been caught out and is looking like he is going to face the financial consequences of his greed.I’m just going to put this out there - Latrell isn’t proven at fullback and in the modern game marquee money isn’t best spent on a centre. He’s a great player but we don’t need him; our backs are fine. Also we need to remember that Latrell is playing in an incredible team.
We had our players in the middle last two seasons. We haven't got that player capable of breaking the game open for us or put their hand up to do something in the last five minutes to get us up in those close major prelims. Let's go in to next year with the same team team. Same result will be the final result.'Bout time some one was a bit sensible. I have always felt Souths should support the backs they have, Burns, Roberts, Gagai and let Mitchell forment disquiet elsewhere.

Latrell is still only 21 years old. The Great Greg Inglis didn't reach the top at that young young age. This blokes potential is scary and could end up better than Inglis. And I'm the first person to say not many players will get even close to Greg. If Souths have a chance of signing him, I'd certainly do it. We need him and I can't believe he's not there already. Or is he? Hee HeeView attachment 35026 View attachment 35026 And like it or not, this player would have made all the difference in the last two major prelims.
Yep Latrell could’ve been the difference for us, he has that X Factor we do need.We had our players in the middle last two seasons. I agree on that though, you can’t compare Latrell to GI.'Bout time some one was a bit sensible. Come on R20 he is a drunken wino! He has his peptide salary cap cheating gummies at 6 and who have they bought? The mighty bunnies top 8 certainties if not top 4. You watch some of the youngsters step upArticle from the Daily Telegraph
BENNY’S SLIDE SHOW
Wayne Bennett took on a Souths side with two marquee stars in Greg Inglis and Sam Burgess. Now that the two champs have their feet up in retirement, I can’t see the Bunnies making the finals. The premiership window is officially closed and the club needs a rebuild — and that
hasn’t been Bennett’s forte for some time. Souths are at the crossroads for the first time since 2011.

With what we currently have I’d say he’s close to the mark, but we still have signings to come.
Expectation is not a good thing for anyone. No one really knows how we will perform next year until we get about five games in. But assuming we don't add to the team for 2020 I certainly won't be expecting too much. Our players will give it all we can be certain of that. But without Burgess, Sutton and naturally Greg Inglis, we will definitely struggle at times. I do think we have enough to make the semis, but if we don't at least I'll know the boys tried their hardest and we will be better in 2021.Come on R20 he is a drunken wino! After all if a half gets injured Douiehi has to play there and AJ back to fullback will just not work.
You won’t find many backs as talented as Latrell and imo Latrell is still young and hasn’t peaked yet.
All his family go for Souths, I reckon Latrell can deliver for us, he scores so many tries and a good goal kicker he’s strong defensively can turn a game......
Mixo for once i disagree we have lost 5 forwards and signed 1 who may not play this next season,we are not in good shape, we may go even worse than 9th which i think is generous, im sorry but im a realist, we are not as strong as this season and we are short a backrower and a propCome on R20 he is a drunken wino! I think 9ths a bit optimistic.Article from the Daily Telegraph

I don’t like Rothfield I won’t lie, but I thought his assessment as things stand right now was quite reasonable. Besides Rodwell and Koloa I don’t think we have many younger forwards younger than Amone and Sironen ready to step up, our depth took a big hit. Things can change though with a few signings before the season.Come on R20 he is a drunken wino! He has his peptide salary cap cheating gummies at 6 and who have they bought? That’s right Pete, the trials won’t tell us too much either apart from whether a couple of players look likely to step up. I’m also certain our boys we give their all but we lost like over 800 games of forwards leadership, that’s a lot to lose.Expectation is not a good thing for anyone. Based on what we have right now where do you expect us to finish Spock? Tbh I’m gonna predict 8th as of right now.I think 9ths a bit optimistic.
Second row is definitely a concern, even if Su’a and Sironen step up along with Lowe we are still very light on if an injury or two hits. Handyman where are you expecting us to finish with what we have right now?Mixo for once i disagree we have lost 5 forwards and signed 1 who may not play this next season,we are not in good shape, we may go even worse than 9th which i think is generous, im sorry but im a realist, we are not as strong as this season and we are short a backrower and a prop
Ooh I don't know about that Handy. I reckon we will have Arrow and we've got Murray the gun Sua with a full pre season as well as lowe big Tom B the best hooker in the comp an improving Tatola and mongrel Knight. Up and comers like Amone Johns and Sironen. Not a bad pack actually. Our halves are solid and you watch Jimmy step up with a full pre season and injury free and Braidon to be injury free as well. Agree we need a couple more forwards to round the team off. I am really looking forward to start of season.
