As the Club has signed 3 NRL players Luke Merrin and Williame 2 of whom have played for their country and only lost 1 NRL UK player in Widdop the squad should be stronger. When the team starts losing Mary will say he got to the quarter finals in 2018 and the team lost Jack. The expectation is that the NRL team makes the quarter finals every year. A club should not pay a coach good money to be a cellar dweller, have the worst defence and not be able to score simple routine tries. Everyone is sick of Mary's amateur approach and he and Young should go as they are abject failures.

The Dragons hit the paddock with weights in hand as they continue their preparations for the 2020 season. Take a look at the best snaps here!

Dugan, Nightingale and MacDonald even in their last season with us were better than Dufty, Ravalawa and Pearson. Where is our 750k fullback, and two wingers at approximately 350k each? It looks like saved coin was spent in the halves and in the forwards causing the imbalance to our run on side.

Saab, Lomax and maybe one of our young outside backs may in time rise to the occasion however, our centres are a big concern and there are no ready replacements for 2020.

Lets see;
Dugan was not on 750k (450k but not 100% accurate on that) when he left. He was offered this but it wasnt his salary before he had talks with the Sharks.
Nightingale was on min wage (120k) plus long serving player allowance.
Nene wasnt on 350k either.
Since then the NRL has introduced top 30 from 25.
Yes, we've had to go overs for our halves (where most of the $$$ you speak of went) but we could if just re-signed McCrone or Shaun Nona!!!

Not sure if this has been discussed...?

If Souths are to shop around Dane Gagai & Alex Johnston due to them now signing Latrell Mitchell, are we in the running for at least one? Do we have room in the cap to accommodate?

Is it possible to shop Aitken and/or Lafai around to squeeze more cap space if needed? Thinking the Titans may have some spare room and be in the market for players if they are releasing Jai Arrow early? Likewise Melbourne if Addo-Carr does the rumored move back to Sydney (Roosters are a possible destination now that they are cashed up).

This might be too complex for Mary & Millward though...?

I would rather Adam Douhi, who will probably yet squeezed out as well.

copied from the latrell thread earlier today

......

its time to change our two centres as we are only going to get the same

Wayne Bennett confirmed in the extended interview that Mitchell will get the shot at fullback by stating that "latrell is one of the best centres in the game but he has a lot of the skills that he wants for FB"

Plus they grabbed Roberts last year from Brissy and his contract must be higher in 2020
In may 2019......"The Rabbitohs matched Roberts Broncos contract, meaning the star centre has signed on for $1.25m for the next two and a half years."

For me that must mean that at least one or two of Gagai, AJ or Adam Doueihi would be all up for grabs especially now that Mitchells contract is in place and Arrow is still confirmed as a target for 2020 by shane richardson today

I think Adam Doueihi could convert into a much better centre then Aitken
Wayne bennett has always said he think ADs best position is centre (interview with AD confirming this)

190cm tall / 21yrs of age and 94kg plenty of time to grow bigger
Did his ACL but can play FB, Wing, Centre or 58 and i think he would be a very good value signing and maybe they will let go......Tedesco did his ACL and has come back better then ever

AJ for would be an essential signing
One of the fastest players in the NRL, try scoring machine 95kg / 185cm 82 tries
Dux of his school, Endeavour Sports High, Alex is an attacking threat whether it be at wing or fullback.

Positions 1-6 is the “big concern” with no established first graders waiting as alternative to the status quo.

Terrible recruitment (thanks to Millward) will do that.

If you can get the best out of him he's a good signing. Not Millwards fault Mary is a muppet. Hopefully Flanno has a word in his gangsta ear and asks him politely if he wouldn't mind trying this season.

There’s that word again...if.

IF Bennett couldn’t get Norman going at the Broncos, who can?

(Just sayin’)

350k wingers.? Addo Carr's contract value had just come out with only slightly over 300k. As good as Nighty was, he was never an Addo Carr - there's no way he was on that when he was signing one year deals at the end of his career.
