Only Jersey Flegg but young gun Simpkins scored the opening try and set up two others. Also of course in true Tigers fashion we were up 22-0 at half time and just scraped home 22-18.

Matheson Johns is playing strongly first half.
Got himself binned of course . . . but very involved.
Walters, Luciano, Musgrove, Douehi, . . . even Reynolds are all playing well.
Madden, Cini, Eiso are all contributing too.

Reynolds pretending to be a dummy half in the second half. He ain't got what it takes.
In first half, he was surrounded by better players and his trademark enthusiasm looked OK. Not anymore.
E Taylor still loves giving away the dumbest penalties in the history of the game.
Dear Lord, please don't let either of these 2 near our NRL side in 2020 and beyond.

First half: Young kids mixed in with a few NRL players . . . and the better young guys ( Walters, Johns, Cini ) blended in really well and the team was going forward nicely.
Second half: Mostly young kids with the likes of Reynolds and Taylor to guide them. A shitfight resulted. Them 2 showing youngsters the way to do things is like a Chinese driving instructor teaching a Chinese girl how to drive.
Development players vs basically an NRL side is a no-win situation. Penrith played well, pretty much left their starting squad on, and got good momentum all the second half.
Walters, Johns should definitely be in the mix for NRL. From the sounds of the earlier game, Simpkins might get upgraded as well..
The team with Walters in it looked a whole different beast to that with Reynolds. AD will be a good buy for us.
Elijah should never see NRL again. Unless of course he's watching a game at the pub with his mates.

Well atleast that confirmed ET is probably no good for NRL ever again. Thought Walters was pretty good and some youngsters showed promise

Didn't see too much that impressed. Though I thought that Walters and the centre (Madden?) went OK.

ET made some good plays in that game. The problem is he gave away dumb penalties and you can't do that. Talau played a lot better which was good to see. Musgrove, Doueihi and Luciana looked good. That Johns kid looked good but he needs to not give away dumb penalties.

Matheson Johns is great. Adam MacDougall like. I would be giving him a run next week, and If he looks just as strong upgrade to top 30 asap. Love his aggression.

Musgrove first game in years looks to be a winner.

Walters good all round game.

Reynolds running out of dummy half is more dangerous then Walters, but his defence and passing doesn't match up. His rushing up in defence will forever keep him in Madges bad books. He just doesn't learn.

Douahi showed what we have missed with his cutout pass for the try. However what we gain in that department we lose in go forward. Thompson definitely makes more yards, looks more dangers running the ball. Adam gets physically dominated. I would run with Adam to start with as that ball playing is essential, but for me it's not a given he keeps the number 1. He will have to perform otherwise we go with the running Thompson.

Guys, it was a trial, combinations are really nonexistent even though many of them are training together.

You also have to take into account, experience and what they did last year and if guys were coming back from long layoffs etc.

So for me, Musgrove and Reynolds went well.
Cini needs some sprint work,
Clark needs to get more game time just so they can get more minutes out of him,
Madden, Simpsons, Johns and Walters will be good 1st grade backups,
McQueen & ET will definitely be doing a farewell lap in their last game for West Magpies this year.
They went ok, no injuries, one more trial to go.


A win is a win unless it’s a trial.

Watch it again. The starting squad were all off the last 30 mins except Naden.
Not Panthers fault we have depth. Burton & May will still rip the Tigers first grade team apart. By the way, only Leota and Yeo were the only NRL forwards that played & only 1st half

ahem, I seem to recall the pandas were certainties for the grand final last year.

The only depth ya got is Ivan’s depth of love for the boy.
