And his form thus year is ordinary.

RCG's form is among the best tight forwards in the comp.

Jnr showed what can do to change a game. Look at Friday night.
RCG has been great but there are plenty of guys who can do a similar job. Very few can do what Jnr can imo. He is irreplaceable.

If he’s zero chance of playing i’d rather he gets the 7 day holiday the rest of the team now has, given he does week on week the most work

But he's not zero chance of playing. Plenty of blokes have gone down in the week before games this year. And we don't know how many players are already carrying niggles. If it comes down to what's best for the Eels, we'd be better having nobody picked ever.

Fitler must like what he has seen from Stefano. Keeping in mind he is playing in a terrible side. Kafusi is playing in one of the best packs in the comp. His job is easier.

Congrats to the tigers. 275k for a guy Freddy thinks is going to play origin soon is a great purchase.

I would generally agree with you.

However, his form this year had been below his average imo.

RCG has played better, imo.

Or Freddy is just costlessly justifying his own previous speculations. Stefano is a long way off being in the top 30 forwards eligible for NSW.

Moses origin article:

Interesting comment:

“but good judges have noticed he does not push up in support every play like Cleary. Fittler, however, said Moses was still young enough to learn that.”

In a recent BA / Moses related article (or maybe interview), it was mentioned BA told Moses after last season he could be fitter. Apparently Moses then got a personal fitness trainer in the off-season.

Here is some of it:

Shows so many factors involved in improving your attack…

This is not an emerging blue squad. Its the actual side.
The extended bench isn't the actual side though. If they got enough injuries that one of these extended bench merkins had to play I expect Fittler would bring someone else in to leapfrog Utoikamanu into the 17.

Fittler's reasoning for a lot of his decisions seems a bit off, like how he picked Moses because Lebanon did better than expected leading to Fittler getting the Origin job. Here's his views on the extended bench:

"I was really hesitant about bringing Dale into the Sydney game, I wasn't sure how he'd perceive coming in as 19th or 20th [man]." https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/07/04/nsw-blues-origin-iii-team/

It appears the extended bench is seen as a bit of a f**karound, where players have to be involved in all the pre-game prep and bullshit but then not get to play.

The thing about 'improving (cardio) fitness' is that it nearly always involves weight loss. For a player like Moses, he obviously worked hard to bulk up, and it's improved his defence massively. Would he be able to improve his cardio without losing too much weight?
