I'll come clean
I have for many, many years watched every game, every weekend and a few of them more than once during the week. Soon after the head crackdown (not against that, just for timeframe) I found I was trying to choose which games would be cripple fights or blowouts and wait for the Kayo mini.
Now, as a rule, I only watch all Sharks and Storm games.
It used to be Rugby League I watched
Rugba Lig isn't cutting it anymore.
Same, always watched every minute of every game… Just can’t be arsed now - they’re all much of a muchness.
Genuinely believe the banning of shoulder charge and crackdown on fighting has ruined the game as a neutral. Every tackle of every game used to keep you interested because there was always the chance of a huge hit that would add spice into the game, or some niggle would lead to a scrap. Rugby league is at its most enjoyable when you’ve got 2 teams wanting to rip each other apart - defensive lines shooting up trying to absolutely belt each other. Nowadays, none of that can happen - no huge monster shoulder charge that fires up the defence and gets the other team pissed off and wanting to return serve, no flying up to put shots on, as if they get it slightly wrong, they’re off and facing weeks on the sideline, no fighting, just embarrassing shirt grabbing at best… all the real fun stuff that made watching as a neutral still enjoyable has gone…. I wonder if the number of tragics like me who are losing interest are being replaced by the Mums and non rugby league folk we’re clearly trying to attract. My guess is not!
Origin is suffering hugely as a result of all the stuff above too.
