Last night showed that Penrith need Cleary desperately. They won't be dong much in the finals if they have to rely on Tyrone 'Video' May to run the show.

Keep Cleary out for the rest of the season and bring him back first week of finals if that's what they have to do. Have that shoulder ready. They'll get past every other team from Roosters down without him, but they'll struggle against Parra, Souths and Melbourne. And it's not just his attack. He sets the tone and repeats those high-intensity accelerations over and over again on the right edge (as Luai does on the left) as 3-man with his line speed.
Ivan makes odd positional decisions in the backs, maybe for defensive reasons? Last night Panthers forwards won the forward battle, but their kicking game was ordinary. Luai is a good enough 2nd option, but as a first option with May as second, they are ordinary. Burton didn't take a single kick.

As fun as it is to meme on Moses, he was the best half on the field last night. His kicking was comfortably the most dangerous weapon Parra had all night. Missing kicks 30 out, 10 in from touch happens at the best of times and there wasn't much else he did wrong.

He's definitely a crucial part of our attack. But not putting Matt Burton to the halves and Tago in the side made Clearys loss even worse for us. We lose our best player and the best half in the competition, and Ivan ignores Burton and brings in Tyrone May who hasn't done shit all season.

I know he scored a try last night. But f**k me dead the guy is a handbrake to the attack. Ivan has some obsession with just throwing him in to fix problems ignoring the problems he creates in those positions.

His utility value these days is nothing more than Ivan putting him into positions anyone else could have done just as poorly in and then being too stubborn to admit he was poor and re-evaluate. He failed in back to back games in the halves with Burton being the shining light in those games only to be given a third chance ahead of Burton.

Parramatta. What is the matter?

Another season making up the numbers.
Yep, another year added to their Premiership drought. Although a successful season for them is when they don't add yet another Wooden Spoon to their already massive collection.

Be honest. Without Cleary Panthers are making up the numbers too. Even with him Storm are probably too good for us. Without him there's no way we are beating them in a finals match.

because we won...

All part of being the people's team
They just got confused, they were expecting to either go with Parra suck for getting flogged or Penrith suck for losing. Both teams played well enough to possibly win the game and defended pretty well, so all they can come up with is, it was a shit game. I thought it was an entertaining game, greasy ball, good hitting in defence and good scramble from both sides. A good change from 50-24 or 40-6.

Plenty of linebreaks too but great scramble. Brown cleaned up Kikau 1 on 1 late in the game. Staines did the same on Gutho.

For about 10 mins in that 1st half we couldn't get out of our own 30. Some great defence that the weaker sides should watch.

Before Api's try. There were 3 or 4 repeat sets. Again patience the middle to lower teams lack but also to be held out is what those sides lack.

There is an old saying in footy. If, as a coach, you listen to the fans, you'll end up sitting with them. Ivan did not ignore Burton. He considered he'd be more use playing where he normally plays, to preserve the team's structures in the outside backs and five-eighth. This is also why he played Staines at fullback. His hand will be forced now and Burton will be the 6 next game. We did win this game you know, and it was against a pretty fair side.

With Luai now injured as well, it is 100% certain Tyrone May will wear the 7 next game, and more than likely the game after that too. You really should get behind him. The club has no other viable options. Not a dickybird.

Consider it a bit like the Roosters using Sam Walker. Sam is very skilful but not very robust. Tyrone May is robust but not so skilful, but its not that he doesn't have the ability, he's just out of form and lacking confidence. 2 weeks of running plays with Burton and the team might do wonders for him.

You say that but the gaping forward pass from acting half probs cost us the game in the end. Momentum went out of us totally and we focused on surviving in D.

Basically if Reed plays I reckon we win. If Cleary plays Penrith win. If both play and both sides defend like that, Penrith probs win but it's be a cracker
Round 25 🤞🏻
