It’s an irony that the teams with salary cap issues are down the bottom of the ladder like the bulldogs, tigers, sharks And the likes of storm and roosters never have a salary cap issue

because we thrown huge contracts at Packer, Mbye and Brooks whilst you throw the big bucks at Tedesco and Keary

On NRL 360 last week they listed some big earners that are under pressure to perform this year, Ben Hunt, The Milf and Mitch Moses and Brooks. They had listed Brooks' salary at 800K. That is criminal if even remotely true.

There are issues with TPAs, absolutely no doubt, but those aren't restricted to the top sides and it's also indisputable that the Roosters and Storm are excellent at managing a salary cap.

They build good enough squads that they can carry a very light bottom end of their top 25, and even then they identify blokes for those spots on or about minimum wage who often punch above their salary. Cast offs like Drew Hutchison...

Absolutely disgusting. BJ and his brother for that fact, Garner, AJ Kepoa not first grade standard.

I wish Reynolds was still around. He may not be the most naturally gifted footballer ever but he has heart and never gives up. He was shafted by our club.

Tigpies fans hate like no other but even Moses is 85 times the player Brooks is...I wonder if they're still stoked on Brooks being the one who stayed?

*cue Tigers fans replacing the M in Mitch with a B*

I wouldn’t have a problem with Moses if he went about his exit a little more professionally. I don’t have a problem with JAC or Teddy. However I will draw the line at throwing games to get your way. Moses and Te’o are two that will always cop it from me.

that said he is 40x the player Brooks is. Garth Brooks is twice the footballer Luke Brooks is.

How does that even work though?
Is it as simple as rubbish teams throw cash at players in an attempt to improve, and successful clubs pay less as players will take success over a big salary?

Lucky tigers re-signed Madge early instead of waiting a couple of rods to see how the team was performing

every roosters player has a few managers monitoring them
they are a very smart club. they wised up, big time

I agree with this. How many former Roosters are running around where you think the club would want back? Maybe Ferguson and possibly Mitchell. No one else would really move the needle for them. They know who to move on and when to move them on.

lesser clubs throw big money at average players in good sides and expect them to be difference makers.

lol they had Cordner and Crichton sitting out today. Roosters depth is fine.

Yeah they had a bunch of players out who would turn the Tigers into a good side, but like any club if they lose Keary and Teddy they're probably going to tumble a bit.

That said the thing I like about the Roosters is the way they identify very good footballers who won't take up a tonne of the cap. They can afford big deals for their stars because of guys like Lindsay Collins and Sitili Tupouniua. Even the Morris boys to an extent, taking a punt on aging backs has paid of big time there.

It's why I can't join so many Eels fans in calling for Arthur's head until there is a demonstrably better coach, because for his flaws tactically he has been excellent at doing just that. We might even be successful enough shortly to attract the genuine star we're missing....maybe.
