Nah it will be fine

this World Cup is end of season and it’s getting loads of attention despite games being on at the worst times

nz vs Australia got around 350k watching it live in Australia at 7 am

And this without any real FTA interest in tournament..

It’s interesting to note that when the Kangaroos v Kiwi Tests we’re on in July on a Friday night, it used to rate around 1.2 million all up.on FTA. Not quite SOO but better than Club football which even the best clashes are generally around the 800,000 mark. And this is without a 1/4 of the fanfare Origin gets..

Put simply, a well promoted Tests will bring in numbers. NZ are long way from those days in terms of strength. This is why Fiji, PNG, Tonga and Samoa are important. More countries get up to Kangaroo and Kiwi standard the more opportunities to promote Test football

This tournament has shaken things. International footy is breaking out of it's shackles.

I’d argue that Samoa has reached their current standard partly due to their exposure to origin football.

I reckon they should just delete the national allegiance criteria for origin. It hasn’t been a selection trial for Australia for a long time.

Might strengthen NZ, Samoa, Fiji and Tonga with big game experience while maintaining the dollars that it currently brings in.

Then play internationals at the end of the year.

Well yeh except England have choked like they always do
They're the reason international RL is in the toilet & relying on aussies of PI heritage to make even it remotely interesting ,
if they'd kept pace with us 50 years ago there would have been no origin 40 years ago & who knows where we'd be now , but they didn't & Australia has moved on to bigger & better things

Nothing wrong with having a little quirky , quasi international scene as long as it knows its place , but suggestions its going to be big one day is .. well... hilarious

He’s a child

Posts literally nothing of substance or consequence. Just insults and garbage.

I was thinking of putting him on ignore but he’s so insignificant to the forum it’s not worth the energy doing it..
have you found a fat serbian who... just knows the rules ...to referee next week yet ?

1st

2nd

& 3rd ... for most watched programs in Aust this year dopey
192K bums on seats .. 3 sellouts including one in racistball heartland

completely dominated all media space for 6 weeks including plenty down south ... while most Aussies barely know the RLWC is on atm

but please , hang your hat on Aussies pretending to be Samoans & Tongans being way bigger then it in 10 years 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
I'm not disputing that currently SOO is the top dog...I'm talking in 10/20 years time "dopey"

The games are heading in opposite directions, SOO ratings continue to drop while international continues to grow.

Do you remember 20 years ago when Bryan Fletcher did the grenade celebration in a half empty stadium and the game was out rated by Master Chef ? If Origin goes back to those days I rekon it'll be time for it to be replaced.

But sure, if you want to hang your hat on the long term future being a game that attracts viewers from 2 states instead of a game that attracts viewers from 2 countries...good luck :D :D :D

🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

That half empty stadium .. for a dead rubber ... of 56K
was still bigger then any international crowd in this Country for the last 57 years , & will be bigger then any for the next 57 too

Origin has lost none of its appeal , still attracting the highest ratings TV can produce in Aust , sellouts in every capital its played in , plus generating interest in our game in the fumbleball states for at least a few nights a year , something aussies pretending to be Samoans & Tongans will never do ...
hell , NSWshmen & Qlders barely have any interest in the international game & that is the reason barely any tests are played here anymore , it'd be embarrassing
so how can we expect australians in other states to get interested ...

international RL is a quirky little side show only & will never replace origin
its fine having it around , next spring it will give us all something to watch again while we wait for clubland to fire up
nothing wrong with that ...

The test match just played between Australia and New Zealand showcased the best talent in the world. There was more talent than SOO and it meant significantly more to both teams. Unbelievably tense contest. Unbelievable talent on display.
Australia vs New Zealand as of 2 nights ago is bigger than SOO
It'll take a while before the plebs catch on but that's the reality.
