Yeah mate. I’m triggered. You got me. Nrl has a fantastic first round and here you are wanking off. So who is triggered?
NRL had an outstanding opening round.

AFL is giving away prime real estate by starting two weeks later. Massive mistake by Gill & his boys.

87 million in stadium grants.

ah if only we had a govt like Victoria’s who give money to afl to own stadia and centres of excellence

why is the tv income so low ?

looks like they have released the real figures excluding Telstra
yes if only nrl could negotiate with nsw govt instead of going to war with them!

2022 was the final year of their covid reduction period, this year they recoup it back when it goes up to $473mill.

fumbleball better make the most of it because in a world of increasing globalisation their funny little game will only face irrelevancy in the long-run.
Christ we`re catching them with basically one arm tied behind our back for the last 25 years.
eh? There was a $347mill revenue gap last year, by far the biggest ever. That’s ever!
How exactly are we catching them?

Agree with alot of this.

AFL will find it difficult (almost impossible) to expand outside of Australia.

Firstly, the rules are way to complicated. Makes it hard for a novice to follow/maintain interest in the game. The most successful global sports soccer, basketball & tennis are easy to follow with only handful of basic rules required to understand the game.

Secondly, most countries use rectangular grounds to play their sports. Soccer/NFL etc...large ovals are mostly only available in cricket playing countries.

Yeah that`s a hiccup, they`ll max out sooner than we will.
Eh? They go up another $73mill this year and next year and a further $170mill on top of that from ‘25. We will go up around $30mill.
How long we waiting for them to max out then how many years for us to close the gap after that?
the gap from 2025 could well be $400mill plus a year until 2028.

it will take something incredibly radical from us to get close to them in the next decade or two.

He can be too negative but he is right in this regard. V’Landys has done some good things but this was a f*** up.
Yeh the afl have done pretty well here to be fair

and that’s before the tv deals go up twice

it’s just the knob whose delivering the message

Ok everyone hear me out

afl turns over more money than nrl

let’s all celebrate by each of us watching one afl game a round now

if the game bores you just concentrate on the crowd or put the afls financial statement over the tv screen

I wouldn’t recommend it, it’s a poor choice compared to watching a rugby league game.sadly the quality of a product doesn’t always equal its popularity or success.

It may take 20 years, it may take 50, but League and union will eventually morph into one code, we may not like it, but it will probably happen. We are already seeing union adopt more and more League like rules as it finally dawns on them that they are in the entertainment business as well.
Once this happens the combined code will become an irresistible force. League like entertainment, union`s international reach.
Like the market for many products, a duopoly will eventually form in winter sports world wide, union/League and soccer. fumbleball will eventually go the way of the dodo, like gaelic rules before it. So enjoy it while you can.

Will it happen before the asteroid wipes out the planet?
