Wests Tigers young star Losana Lutu is soaking up the experience of her first NSW camp as she prepares to don the No.6 jersey in the Women’s State of Origin Under 19s on Thursday night.

And it’s all the more special for the Wests junior because she will take the field at the Tigers' spiritual home of Leichhardt Oval to kick off a bumper Representative Round.

A core group of players returning for the 2022 edition of the Women’s Origin Under 19s game has given Harvey Norman NSW coach Blake Cavallaro some underlying confidence for back-to-back victories over Queensland.

Cavallaro led the Under 19s women to a successful 16-12 win at Sunshine Coast Stadium a year ago and would like that effort to be repeated at Leichhardt Oval on Thursday night.

Creating the link between U17s and U19s girls wanting to continue to play Rugby League was further strengthened this week at the Lisa Fiaola Cup gala day at Tuggerah’s Central Coast Regional Sporting Complex.

This week games consisted of 10-minute halves and teams were spread across three pools. Each team played four matches with a total of 360 females taking part in the event.

Teams came from Parramatta Eels, Central Coast Roosters, NRL Victoria, Newcastle Knights, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Wests Tigers, Illawarra Steelers, Penrith Panthers, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Northern Tigers, Northern Rivers, St George Dragons, North Coast Bulldogs, Western Rams, and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.
