Because we only know the FTA for both deals

Well we know ch7 are paying $170m just don't know the contra. So $170m - $130m

Yes, I never once said ch9 should pay more for NRL than AFL gets FTA.

Fox deals possibly as they have no ads during play and it is where NRL flogs AFL, Though still there is the content and minutes of play
FTA includes Origin ($30mill) and radio ($10mill) for NRL.

the real deal come 2025 comparing just the domestic competition rights is
AFL FTA $185mill
NRL FTA $90mill

and is that on them, or on us for letting them?
Its a frustrating situation. The reality sadly is what Paul Kennedy mentions in the podcast and that news corp wanted a team in melbourne. They dont want or feel they need teams in perth or adelaide but do ned a second Brisbane team and this is what we have.
Hopefully in the future this changes.

I don't think you can complain about these decisions. Melbourne has been great for the NRL and added to the bottom line in a market no one expected them to perform so well in.

Brisbane 2 has been going on since the 90s and was a reality with the Crushers at one point too. There should probably be 4 teams in SEQ tbh.

Brisbane2 was a no brainer.
THE? Maybe not so, time will tell. The fact that we are already talking about needing brisbane3 is probably quite telling in how good a choice they are.

The post said 4 teams in SEQ, Which is where Dolphins will be based.
Bringing $200m and Juniors with them

There would be no need for 4 teams in SEQ if Brisbane2 had been done correctly. Now maybe 'THE' will end up being adopted as Brisbane's second team in which case its covered, but it hasnt been set up to give itself the best success at that imo.
Firehawks offered everything Redcliffe does infrastructure wise, but would have been a genuine Brisbane2 team focused on that important southern Brisbane corridor that AFL is focused on.

I don't know why you are only obsessed with Capital cities.

If there is money to the North ( Where there are no sports ) why not cover that as well? Sponsors, Fans and most importantly money will dictate where the club is based

This all belong in the expansion thread but I just don’t think we need 4 teams in SEQLD and we certainly don’t need it right now. Give the new team time to grow and allow the GC to get more of a footing.

There are so many other more pressing places to expand.

capital cities = $$$$$ for the game!

The call for 20 years has been for a genuine second Brisbane side playing FT out of Suncorp. That's been the no brainer everyone talks about.
This hybrid that's trying to be Brisbane2, Redcliffe/Moreton Bay and the central regional Qlnds team isnt what everyone was crying out for. It might work, Dolphins have got the assets for it not to be a disaster but will it be what everyone has been saying is needed in Brisbane? Time will tell.
Reality is Firehawks offered the same Jnrs and financial security as Redcliffe but actually delivered on the Brisbane2 no brainer demand. You do have to question why a hybrid model was chosen over a genuine Brisbane2 model?
