Everyone write to the NRL and tell them how disgusting that refereeing was.

Just as a recap:

* tigers scored with 73 seconds left, you are allowed 90 seconds to take the shot at goal before the referee stops the clock, clock stopped after 68 seconds

* challenge allowed when no stop in play had been awarded

* literally running into the back of a defender is now a penalty

Kayo clock shows 1.31 left. So 91 seconds according to them.

There would be many other games and results like this though.

On what legal basis could you do it? You would have to accuse them of fraud or conspiracy.
You could legitimately argue within the rules of the game that time had expired and there was no legitimate way for it to be extended and for the challenge to be made. You could argue gross negligence.

I know it is a slippery slope. Canberra fans argue that they ‘will’ have won a couple of weeks ago with Hunt’s last play antics (and they have a fair shout) but they still had to kick the goal and then win in extra time. There is plenty of grey area there to exploit as a legal defence.

Here it is black and white; it’s is an error of applying the law (rather than interpretation) that directly led to a different outcome and without that error you can plausibly show that the Tigers categorically will have won the game.

The NRL has consistently batted away any clock discussion by saying the broadcasters clock is not official.

It came up as recently as a week ago.

So the argument around time is likely to go nowhere.

As I said earlier the NRL set the precedent a few years back when they refused to overturn the Storms "win' against the Dragons when they scored the winning try from a play the ball they were illegally allowed to take after the full time siren had sounded.

It will come down to a "judgement" argument.

It would seem like a mighty big fight for the Tigers to embark on, just for 2 meaningless competition points (in 2022)
