Different code and only somewhat related but the All Blacks spear on Brian O'Driscoll was the worst I've ever seen.

Lawton wasn't at that level but it had all the same mechanics so I'm still perplexed people are arguing against a send off
So am I but I’m keeping my mouth shut after Anzac Day shenanigans

Why are people expecting consistency?

My position is it deserved 25 mins in the bin but we don’t have that in the rules.

All that said, I hope he gets 2 weeks at the most,

That effectively makes it 3 weeks, time served.

Simply on the basis that the drive was a half pronged effort. Still a drive but.

What I'm saying is you can still disqualify a player without the team playing a man down. This happens in basketball, NFL etc. and no one seems to have an issue. He would still get punished for the tackle by a) not playing the rest of that game and b) a suspension.
I like it. We could have picked Tautau Moga to start in last year's GF with the sole intent of knocking out Nathan Cleary, knowing that if he gets sent off we'd still be able to finish the game with 13 men and only losing Moga in the process.

Unlikely? Definitely. Should the rules allow for this scenario? Definitely not.
