Poor Afghanistan

So full of hope, only to come up against Lord Sir Christopher Woakes straight away.

Pray that the King of Eights is in a merciful mood

It's been my concern for a while.

We have an ageing side and I struggle to see who is going to replace Warner, Smith, Wade and Finch.

We got lucky last year the kiwis knocked over India and England for us. And finch won the toss 5 game straight.

Outside of Cameron Green we don't have any young batsman in that 22-27 age bracket in the short form that stands out demanding to be picked or putting enough pressure on the side.

Josh Phillipe is probably the future but he hasn't quite kicked from a few years back.

Ben McDermott looks like a player too me that will be a good domestic player but not quite at an international standard consistently.

BBL isn't producing the players it should be.

England beat Afghanistan fairly convincingly last night.

Today:

Ireland 🇮🇪 v Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Then the blockbuster:

India 🇮🇳 v Pakistan 🇵🇰

what a gutless effort that was

I can't think of any valid reason why we would keep picking Finch

Thought our bowlers set the tone for the garbage display tbh..

They are just as much to blame as the batsmen. Too wide, too short, too predictable

Kiwis have a knack at times to beat us in preliminary rounds of world cups, then we belt them when it counts. Pretty sure they beat us in a couple of ODI world cups, where we went on to win it afterwards

Early days

Yeah in 1999 & 2015 ODI WC they beat us in the group stage and we won the cup.

Can't beat us in test cricket though.

The X-factor in this is the weather. It will only take a washed out game against an opponent we'd expect to beat to end this campaign. With our NRR trashed this campaign might already be over and we just don't know it yet.

On the bright side, we can only improve from that farce.

Unless Finch falls on his sword he won't be dropped although he should be. Unfortunately he has too many people on his pork sword for him to go anywhere.

Stoinis needs to go and there is a better alternative in Green so why the tryhard still gets a run I don't know.

If Smith is in the squad you play him or you don't have him in the squad. He's not the most consistent t20 batsman going around but you know his quality and he's the type of steady hand the team needs when the top order fails. I'd have him in over Maxwell who is just a f**king idiot basically.

None of this means anything because they're likely to drop David because he's not yet in the boys club so becomes the scapegoat

Marsh and Maxwell can cover overs. So can Green if you get him in the side. There is potential to play an extra batsman but I'm not sure they will be dropping anyone from our attack.

Cummins and Starc weren't too good. Even Hazelwood's first over was poor though he did come back strongly. They collectively did a Harmison and put us on the backfoot for the rest of the game.

I'm a bit surprised they didn't check the Stirling wicket. I thought Bhanuka put the ball on the ground before he had control while he was still rolling.

Imagine an Aussie did that to a sub continent bat? Lol
