41.5.1 In addition to 41.4, it is unfair for any fielder wilfully to attempt, by word or action, to distract, deceive or obstruct either batter after the striker has received the ball.

I don't see how "fake fielding" breaches that law, it's not distracting the batsman, which is probably more relevant.

Pretending to pick up the ball and throw it (after you f**ked up fielding) isn't distracting them imo. Possibly deceiving them but that's being a bit precious imo considering mankads are legal because you're deceiving the batsman by "pretending to bowl".
