you mean the stooge & commissioners who delivered a 43 mill profit during covid clown ?
aw bless, here we go again......
I mean the stooge and commissioners who've put the NRL hundreds of millions of $'s behind the AFL over the next 5 years, reduced the digital revenue growth, brought in an expansion club in the wrong place, messed up the games rules and generally have done a really sht job.

If the NRL have a handshake agreement to renegotiate, then agree its wishful thinking at best.

However, Fox knows it needs the NRL and for the NRL to be (somewhat) happy. There's two scenarios that playout in terms of financial comp:

1. Fox kicks the can down the road, boots their CEO and says the person who made that agreement is not here so we can't honour it. Fox IPOs becomes a public company and if they lose NRL right in 2027 or whatever it is, both News and Telstra have cashed out so it will be public shareholders that cop that economic loss.

2. Fox remains in tact with current CEO. There is a negotiation and Vlandys saves face by making a new deal.

The concern is that they will just ask for more conditions in order to re-negotiate with very little increase

I've been hearing a lot that the NRL TV ratings are much better than AFL & that we are getting ripped off by TV executives and/or PVL incompetence.

Just looking at this weekends ratings ( Friday, Saturday night) AFL is comfortably ahead.

AFL ( FOX, SEVEN) - Friday Night 1.15M
NRL (FOX, NINE) - Friday Night 823K

AFL (FOX, SEVEN) - Saturday Night 1.06M
NRL ( FOX,NINE) - Saturday Night 731K

Across the two nights AFL 600k more viewers than the NRL. This is roughly a 26% difference difference between the two codes.

what about regionals and streaming?

AFL is a far better product overall, NRL is like a regional sport in many ways, crappy grounds with signage sponsors like ‘Micks Garage’ and ‘Billy’s Bakery’ with crowds under 10.000 with zero atmosphere, sure you have top shelf content too like SOO but that doesn’t come close to bridging the gap, the RLWC I’m sorry to say is a complete joke, may as well just have a tri series.
So lets compare the AFL World Cup with the Rugby League World Cup shall we. The AFL version would consist of two Melbourne suburbs playing each other where as the Rugby League version would be players representing their country like New Zealand V England. For the benefit of our AFL troll the word international means they come from somewhere outside Victoria...

AFL is the sport for kids to soft for Rugby League but to unco for basketball.

AFL does not have a WC obviously because AFL is not an international sport, but if we were to the tune of RL I would be absolutely horrified if we ran a WC.

Rugby League is the weakest international football code on the planet, the AFL get much bigger crowds and more TV money than any RL comp on earth, those are facts which cannot be disputed.
