How about not swing your legs out and drop your entire body weight on their ankles?

If it was impossible to tackle someone from behind without it being a hip drop, we'd have been seeing them for the entire history of rugby league.
He didn’t land on the ankles or even make contact with the legs at all so what are you talking about?

Main difference is Loiero didn’t land on the legs, which I thought was a key part of the hip drop penalty.

Coming down on the legs seems pot luck to me with a hip drop depending on what the ball carrier is doing when the action happens.

Loiero didn't do anything different to Butcher to prevent himself falling on the legs.

Olam should have been penalised there. You're not allowed to push your own player forward. Unless you're playing union.
