I can't remember ever dreading the start to a season but hey, here we are 🤦‍♂️
I’m not worried about the start of the season. I’m worried about after the first month when we play some decent teams.

There was a few good signs and more bad ones but once again it means absolutely nothing because it’s a trial.

I think I've watched most of our games the past 20 years and I've seen plenty of terrible games. We were bad but I've seen us play proper NRL games much worse.

Not happy with our performance or side but it was far from terrible.

Highlights of the game below.

That Best try is not something you see last year. Marzhew with a barnstorming run getting the opposition on the back foot and then giving the ball to Best quickly on the next play to let him do his magic. Was beautifil.

That run Marzhew made, no other winger in our club can do. Sounds like he had some errors and poor defense, but what he offers on the other side of the ball I am taking and hoping he gets it right and improves week by week, in all aspects.

Got home late last night so didn’t see the match but saw the highlights. Our defence looked really poor. How did KP go at 5/8? Nice ball to Best for that try but didn’t seem like he had any other notable highlights.

He didn’t do a lot in attack but had a few nice touches.

His defence was up and down. Had some good front on contact early and looked pretty strong. Had a shirt grab later on for one of the tries. To be fair it was right at the end of the half and it was his 1st game since last July so he might’ve been blowing a bit.

I’m excited by our spine- should be a 10x improvement on past seasons when/if they get some time together to gel.

You saw last night what every team’s game plan is going to be- run at Ponga and then expose his defence when he starts to tire.

I feel he’s going to be made to look very ordinary the first half dozen or so games, but should get more used to the contact and fatigue that comes with the positional switch as the season goes on. There’s going to be a massive media pile on.

I have no doubt that miller, ponga, Hastings will be a vast improvement over Hoy, Milford, injured clune

As above, we just have to be patient and give them time to gel, ponga hasn’t played since pretty much origin, and Hastings hasn’t played since like august

What will ultimately kill the Knights this year is your pack. There is Frizell who is good but I think will wane further this year. Young Thompson has some go and promise. Ther rest.....a combination of role players who simply won't play their best footy week after week and a forward leader (D Saifiti) who is downright unreliable.

You 1-7 are not exactly models of consistency, but under the right conditions, it is a comp winning backline. Combine that backline with the current Wests Tigers forward pack, they would finish in the 8 for sure.

If your forwards have a good year and prove me wrong, your team will make the eight. Hope you guys do very well this year.

Comparing peoples’ perceptions of ordinary trial performances and needing Lifeline assistance ‘is a bit weird’ Druss. Each to their own I guess.
