Embarrassing crowd tonight. Lucky to be 30k there by the looks on tv. I reckon 32-35k. Compared to what doggies had in week 1 just makes you wonder if we had a year where all the big Sydney teams went well - aka dogs, eels, Souths, dragons

I said it earlier this year. No disrespect to either side's achievements, they both deserve to be there but it's not good for the game (crowd-wise) that these two have been two of the top teams for the last few seasons

The same game at the same venue on the same night with the same weather, when Penrith was a fraction of the way through its dynasty got over 50,000 vs South Sydney.

And that was when you still had to isolate for a week with covid

Yeah of course, if Brisbane v NQ, Brisbane v Melbourne and NQ v Melbourne sold out, this one definitely will

Aside from 2020, thats the lowest PF game at Accor since 2000, and that game featured an interstate team.

For two Sydney teams on a Saturday, its really ordinary.

I got free tickets through work for the gf a few weeks ago, was surprised they are handing them out back then when there were Sydney teams looking good. Only other time I got them was for cowboys v storm.

Looking forward to this game as a neutral.

Aside from 2020, thats the lowest PF game at Accor since 2000, and that game featured an interstate team.

For two Sydney teams on a Saturday, its really ordinary.

It is 1,800 less than the equivalent match last year

The rain would’ve stopped a few from going but 33k is pretty bad. Perhaps games need to be played at 6:30/7. Makes it more appealing for neutrals or families to attend

Putrid crowd.
And I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask about the gf attendance. It’s a really hard sell when a few Penrith fans might be a bit blasé about their success (this is their 5th gf in a row!) and they don’t have a huge fan base.
Melbourne is obviously an even harder sell cause it’s a Sunday night game with no public holiday in Melbourne on Monday.
Add to that that these two teams have consistently been around the top for at least the past 5 years (since forever for the storm) and it’s really hard for neutrals to get excited, even considering the quality of both teams.
I hope I’m wrong but I think it could be hard to get heaps of fans excited for this one.
