It's not much to be proud of but keep your head in the sand if you like.

If it was my club playing in a stadium like that I would admit that it is not up to standard.

It is just a waste really and if we don't break a 20k average competition wide this year than the sharks can take most of the blame for it.

Imagine if the eels or bulldogs had the recent success of the sharks and were solid top 4 this year, they would be averaging 25k plus easily.

Where as the sharks down the bottom of the ladder would still be averaging the same 10k.
Phooey to you misery guts

I’m sure the sharks ceo is doing all he can behind the scenes to push things along

they probably stuffed up with the contract not putting heavy penalty conditions on it

or it could even be the building ombudsman is auditing the site and that’s the cause of delay

maybe some sharks fans who know more can update ?

and the sharks are not only missing out on at least 5k crowds at home games, they are losing millions in each year in lost revenue from their leagues club
The Sharks have bought the Kareela golf club, it has been their leagues club during the renovations…

Tony Cochrane actually. I got his title wrong. I’ll forgive myself for that as you get everything wrong especially about this stadium afl boy!

He says he thinks it will be 1.3-1.5b based on his experience in stadium construction and management - and by this he means his ONLY experience - the rebuild and management of Carrara. A venue of similar capacity, but notably not having a roof of any kind.

The guy is also against expansion of any kind.
Tony Cochrane is an event promoter (concerts and Supercars) with zero experience in stadium construction. He joined the Suns board well after Carrara was rebuilt and was not involved in its rebuild. He is anti Tasmania and prone to exaggeration. He is a headline seeker who also thinks AFL is about to overtake RL as Queensland’s number 1 sport. In short, he is an idiot, not well liked or respected in AFL or NRL circles.

His opinion regarding this and most matters is worthless.

Pre-sales for Perth are looking solid. With 3 weeks to go, we are looking at:

Western Side: Lower bays W102 - W114 are either sold out, or close to. In Level 2, Bays W207 - W211 are all gone as well.

Eastern Side: Lower bays E124 - E131 are all sold out or close to, whilst in the main grandstand E227 - E230 are pretty much the same, whilst neighbouring E226 and E231 are around 70% sold.

Elsewhere, N139, S221, S220, S219, S119 and S120 are also much the same.

I'd say, if the game was played today, we'd be looking at around 14-15K, so well on track for a sell out.

Bodes well for Perth as the 18th nrl team

Agree. Shame it's the Dolphins versus the NRL running this match, the NRL pricing & marketing (as shown with last years double header) would have seen it sold out by now.

I do hope that if the North Perth Red Bears are announced, that they aim to take one game a year to Optus Stadium. Can see them comfortably drawing 40K+ (especially if it's a season opener) before then hopefully going close to regularly filling HBF Park.

I think a Perth team could average between 15 to 20k

need to start off decently putting together a good roster like the dolphins did

I can their first game getting 40k or so but not in the following years as they're is no natural arch rival. They could possibly chuck in a double header once a year though, that could work.

If Perth can get 45k to a double header I’d hope they could start with 50k+ at Optus. After that though I think it still makes sense to play at Optus once a year, maybe try and make it a traditional event game from the start and hopefully it sticks. Can always revert back to HBF if crowds start dropping.

Either round 1 before AFL starts or as a double header like you suggest.
