Finals wise, the breakdown for venues in the first 3 weeks is looking something like..

2 at AAMI - confirmed. No reason why these both shouldn't be 25k plus

Guaranteed two at SFS which would be one each for roosters and sharks. A 3rd game would be played there if roosters finish 2nd. Roosters/Penrith, sharks/dogs and then roosters against whoever in week 2 or 3 would all go close to selling out.

Penrith guaranteed one game that won't be at Penrith in week 2 or 3. Assume this would be ANZ but possibly week 2 would be commbank? Crowd depends on opponent. If they finish 2nd then they get week 1 at Penrith for a sell out.

The other two venues will be two of ANZ/Brookvale/QCB depending on results next week. Best result crowds wise would be ANZ and QCB but that seems most unlikely IMO. I think it will end up being ANZ and Brookvale, the latter will sell out and the former depends on opponent but certainly 35k at minimum.

Dogs still a chance to finish 7th. That is best chance for a decent crowd in the Sharks week 2 semi. Have Dogs/Manly instead of Cows

Won’t that just means sharks would get a home game in week 2 instead of week 1? I guess it guarantees they only get 1 home game instead of a potential 2 if they win week 1.

Wont lie though I am hoping roosters can pop 2nd place, a roosters panthers game at Allianz week 1 would pop off.

Seems like a near given at this point. The cap off to an amazing season of crowds.
Yes, but only week 1 finals games can be played at Shark Park, from week 2 onwards it's Commbank, Accor or Allianz only for Sydney games

No, dogs finishing 5th is better. Sharks look likely to finish 4th so that's the only way they match with dogs week 2.

Is it locked in now that shark park Rd 1 can't happen ?
Mathematically possible but exceedingly unlikely. It would require all of the following to occur

- Penrith lose to titans
- roosters lose to both Canberra and Souths
- sharks beat manly at brookvale

Roosters winning today would put the matter to bed.

First week of the finals could look really good if it goes a certain way.

Cowboys vs Dolphins at country bank 30k
Bulldogs vs Manly at accor 45k
Melbourne vs Sharks ami 25 k
Roosters vs Pathers Allianz 40k

When is the nonsense ground at the Sharks going to be fixed?
It's pathetic. No NRL club should be operating at any stadium under 20k. The NRL needs to make that a rule!
There are at least 6 grounds in use at the moment that lack a 20000 capacity. Good luck solving that. Sharks are looking at getting capacity to 18000. That’ll be fine as long as we play marquee games at Allianz. I’ve suggested derby games against the dragons for a start.

Any word on crowd figure for the knights game?

Surely 25k give or take. There isn’t any reason why it shouldn’t.

18k would be pretty good and I love your suggestion about Allianz marquee games. Should be a model Manly, Tigers and Dragons look at too.

Try and fill their suburban grounds for every game and go all out for a couple of marquee games at a big stadium to get their season average to 20k min

The 6 grounds you're talking about are mostly 1 off novelties, not full season.
The Dolphins should be at Suncorp full-time. I have no issues with the odd game at Belmore ect, a game in the country sure.
A lot of the games success in lifting crowds has come from improved facilities: Cowboys, Melbourne, Roosters, Parramatta and even Sea eagles, even Leichardt is getting a face lift.
We'll be getting a better stadium for the Panthers soon too.
I think the Sharks supporters deserve better and without putting pressure on them or government to improve facilities.. we have a poor facility.

We need to be pushing this across the board.
Do you know when we can expect the capacity to be lifted at Sharks?

Leichhardt, manly, kayo, shark park, Campbell town, and arguably both Wollongong and kogarah all are under 20000. Capacity at shark park will be prioritised once the development is complete. Apparently that is late next year when the leagues club reopens. The site is very impressive by the way. But there’s a way to go. Very frustrating as everything else is going well.

Just looking at how these crowds are growing I’d love to know how much money teams like the Dragons, Shark and Tigers are leaving on the table playing at such limited capacity stadiums
35k for the dogs surely would have netted them at least 300k in the gate
I’d imagine Redcliffe would have made close the 600k last night vs the Broncos
I understand that limited capacity of Kogarah but really the game against the dogs should have been moved to Allianz. 35k minimum would have boosted the clubs coffers by 500k
Moving forward the gaps only going to get bigger between rich and poor clubs unless teams start having some flexibility in there home ground allocations
The disappointing thing is that we’ll be making the same mistake in Perth with its 80s style hodgepodge ground.

These grounds in Perth and Sydney can only drag our crowd averages down.

Demand for attendance will drive change. We’ve have so many sellouts this year something has to give

Northern GA down to the last 100 seats at Allianz, so the lower bowl should be sold out before kick off this afternoon.

Sales in the bays that have been put on sale on Level 2 & 4 have been strong. Biggest unknown for the game is how many emergency services staff have taken up the offer of free tickets.

Should comfortably be over 25K and landing somewhere between 30-35K is a very realistic possibility.

Perth will be fine. The capacity is already above the NRL average and there is a $300m upgrade of HBF Park on the table if the Bears get an NRL license, which would raise the capacity to 25K.

PNG is a bigger threat to crowd averages than the Western Bears.

Perth currently has no room for the growth that it needs. Just barely adequate.

The ‘on the table’ upgrade is pretty limp until signed, sealed and delivered.

Rugby League deserves better.
