I started my first re-watch tonight. Only made it to the Turuva try before life got in the way, but I noticed a couple of interesting plays that the brains trust clearly took note of for later in the game.
4th Minute, the ball shifts to Martin and Howarth was up very early to shut down the offload.
12th Minute again Martin gets the ball one on one with Munster, and Howarth holds the defensive line, but doesn't engage at all. Munster makes a great legs tackle.
Obviously just before half-time, they go this way again, and Cleary pulls Munster in, Howarth is way up in the defensive line, and Martin goes through a massive gap.
Really interested to see the rest of the half to see if they go to Martin again and what variation they run, and how Melbourne defend it. In the two instances above, you can almost see the gears turning in Cleary's head, just banking that information for later on.
Also loved seeing the training footage during the week of Alamoti's wrap around for Turuva's try. Looked frame perfect. Can't imagine how many reps they've done at training and how long they've been waiting to pull that one out. But it was beautiful.
