3 weeks (less with guilty plea) for Nikora shows how out of touch the MRC are. I fail to see how that wasn’t graded at the very highest level available. Terrible hit.

And then to compound it, Jerome gets hit with a fine for knocking a bloke out of the game with a swinging arm and then a trip

Because unless you kill someone on the field, You are always getting a longer suspension for writing words on social media

Kikau didn’t even need a HIA. So it wasn’t that bad.

Pissed Penrith fans off as well. Was a dumb decision. Didn't work out well for Taylan either in the end. Injured the next week and missed the rest of the semis and a GF win. If he had have served the suspension when handed down he would have been back for the prelim. Then insult to injury does his acl in the WCC the next year.
Some karma that he missed the finals that year. I would not wish an acl on any player though.

Nikora should (am I sure he will) take the early guilty plea and run.

It is always a fine. Not sure why anyone expected different.
Has everyone forgotten the entirety of Josh Reynolds career? Dude was fined and penalised for it twice a year or thereabouts. Yet people still think its the 80s snd that its a send off offence and suspension.

Amazingly no outrage that not long after RCG does this and wasnt penalised.

Ref with no positional awareness gets in the way.
Friday night it's a mutual infringement, Saturday night it's play on with no issue but then on report Sunday with a 2 week penalty. Go figure.

Haha I only just saw that Hughes incident, that's a laugh. Referees seem to have gotten in the way three times this weekend?

Melbourne Storm and Jahrome Hughes have reluctantly accepted the early plea and grading for his contrary conduct charge from Saturday night.

Whilst both Jahrome and the club fully support and totally endorse the protection of referees in our game, we believe Saturday’s incident was an accident.

Further, we believe the contact was unavoidable and the grading on the incident was too harsh given the circumstances where Jahrome was concentrating on making an important tackle in the context of the game and not fixated on the movements of the referee.

Jahrome has reached out to referee, Chris Butler, to apologise and reinforce that his actions were unintentional.

We are disappointed that an unsuccessful challenge on the grading would have also resulted in an extra week suspension.

We acknowledge the system is in place to avoid judiciary hearings but, in this case, we believe the risk of the penalty for contesting the charge is too high considering the circumstances of the incident.

In the end, the threat of an extra week suspension on top of our club’s bye next weekend was the overriding factor in our decision but we don’t believe this is a fair outcome.

I’m torn here.

On the one hand, I think the Storm make a very good point. It clearly wasn’t deliberate, it’s just two people trying to occupy the same space. The charge is ridiculous.

But on the other hand, and this is important, f**k the Storm.

You can see the bind I’m in.
