The Warriors didn't win a game v a top 4 side last year and made the finals, and got dusted big time. You're right, you need to know you can beat a top four side, otherwise you're making up the numbers.

Apologies, I must correct myself regarding week 2 in light of some information I've stumbled across.

That week 2 Saturday night final will have to be held at Allianz Stadium (speaking more specifically regarding the scenario where Penrith are the home team), as Accor Stadium won't be available that day due to hosting the Bledisloe Cup.

I just had a look at the 2009 season stats and Parramatta were in the top 8 at the end of Rounds 3, 25 and 26.

So, the Knights winning today equalled Parra's record today, making the finals after finishing in the top 8 at the end of only 3 rounds during the season (Rounds 11, 12 and 27).

As I pointed out earlier, the Knights also had the worst attack of all 17 teams (in terms of the number of tries scored during the season).

So lock in knights losing to storm in the GF.

Also, why would Commbank be handier for Sharks fans, many of whom would be travelling from the Shire, as opposed to Allianz? In all honesty they ae using the precinct clash as a figleaf to try and get it played in its dump of a ground. The NRL brought this up itself due to the chatter around the games in week 1.

The biggest furphy in the game is that "home finals" are a thing at all.

Once the final siren blows in Round 27, that's it, clubs have no control over the game. The NRL runs all nine matches from thereafter, and it's at their discretion where and when they are played. They have guidelines about eligible grounds and clubs can make submissions, but ultimately it's the NRL who decide it all.

Buzz's piece is absolute nonsense - I'm positive you could go back and find him penning articles about fans missing out because of games being played at Kogarah or Brookvale in years past; and then for the Sharks chair to complain about a lack of government funding after the club has spent years and years bragging about its ownership of the ground and not being reliant on such funding... fair dinkum

I'd think they'd be bigger idiots if they put a side on a bus that had earned a home semi. That's ridiculous to suggest a professional side should be forced to sit in a bus and interrupt their preparation, when they could as easily charter a flight and save a lot of hassle. If it's 100k, so be it. Someone made an F up in not getting them on the commercial flight and it needs to be rectified.

The NRL doesn't need a headline around the Cows losing a home semi in which the away side got on a plane to, but they had to sit on a bus. It's a poor look, unprofessional as hell.
