It was a strange situation. Foran had pledged to stay with the club whilst he negotiated with Parramatta, and at that point we had chosen to keep Foran over DCE. He negotiates a contract, Foran f**ks us over, and we are almost forced to offer DCE a massive contract to keep him, given that the “backflip” contract has to be larger than the proffered alternative. Did Daly do anything wrong?? Not in any way shape or form. Did Daly unfairly cop a massive amount of criticism from the fans and media?? Absolutely, especially the filthy Queensland media that were incredibly butthurt about the whole situation…
Oh the adversity
Despite the astonishing amount of bullshit your mob are getting away with in defence, (high shots, flops and wrestling) they're still leaving huge gaps.
I’d tend to agree, but yeah that’s what happened and Manly were in a position where the huge contract was our only option aside from losing two young gun halves at the same time. Foran was, in most respects, the villain of the situation, DCE was painted as the bad guy, Titans played the victim better than Jusset Smollet and the press had a field day. Foran was actually the biggest loser in the end, being forced to play for Parramatta for a few years nearly cost him his sanity and career lol
