WTF happened with Ponga there? How was that not a penalty??? He was clearly held down
I feel like refs have been pretty lenient on this in 2024. No idea why. Would have been a sin bin in another year, should have at least been a penalty.

Didn't deserve to win though, could have stolen it if our team did support play.

For all people meme on players like Nathan Merritt, the Knights win that game if he's on their right wing when Ponga makes that break.
We are a really slow team without Young now. Ponga has lost a bit of pace and is still way faster in open space than anyone else on the team.

The whole SJ vs Ponga thing from last years Dally Ms misses the point… the important difference is SJ has other good players in his side

The Dally M voting system is f**ked in general, but all the hysteria about Ponga not deserving his Dally M last year because SJ had other good players around him taking points is pretty ironic. If he’s doing it all himself without any help doesn’t that suggest it’s well deserved? It’s a lot easier to shine equally good players around you.

Yeah but one team had 5 starters missing, a 3rd string half playing and f**king Michael Jennings playing 80 minutes.

In other words, lol @ Knights

You probably lose tonight with a fit Teddy and the 2 intensive care twins in the halves.

You’re much better off without Walker. That was Keary’s best game in years and Watson who can’t pass or kick offered more than Walker. Manu was also better than Teddy would’ve been.

Sutton really dominated the ruck for you aswell he’ll have to split the Dally M points with KP.

Extra salty today

Typical Newcastle, always blaming the refs. Cant even beat half a team.

Newcastle certainly had some calls go against them today. In the end though, Newcastle ultimately beat themselves by not having the desire or fitness to back up players who made breaks on two occasions in the last six minutes. Newcastle had a chance to win despite the ref, they just weren't quite good enough to get it done.

Not really. Just think you’re better off with Keary at 7 and Manu getting more ball.
Im not sold on Sam Walker over the last two years. His physicality is just not upto NRL in a variety of ways and does not have a skillset honed enough to bail him out.

Yeah but that’s what they had available. Maybe when they have more they’ll look better

That’s pretty much my point. There’s f**k all between the two of them but Ponga has to do it all himself. SJ has a few other guys like Egan, Metcalf and CHT providing other points of attack. Doesn’t mean Ponga is better but he’s definitely shouldering
a bigger workload every week.

Hey, at least we know we’re shit currently. Roosters fans seem to still be deluded into thinking they’re still a top side. His fringe top 8 comment was pretty accurate and probably flattering to both sides.
