I believe Wenty will trial weekend of the 17th, not sure who against. Noticed that draws for RMC and SS have been removed from MyLeague website.
Mounties play at Laybutt on 10 Feb, presumably against Hills as Blacktown are playing North Sydney in NSW Cup trial at 3pm. St Marys have a SS trial vs Brothers on 17 Feb and then vs Ryde Eastwood in both grades on 24 Feb and vs Cessnock on 2 March.

Was RMC/SS draws ever on Myleague? - when NSWRL released the draws, these grades had the draw on a spreadsheet.

Thank for the trial info. As for the draws, they appeared after the release of the Spreadsheet and I noted updates to days and times for a number of teams. Maybe they are finalising all of this info.

I have just noticed that the RMC & SS draws now appear on the NSWRL App and Website. This is how it was a couple of seasons ago and it provided more up to date game day info. Let's hope they remain.

I guess the crucial point is whether the NSWRL has reversed the amendment made to the Procedures manual a few years ago, that stipulated that RMC and SS teams would only be inserted by NSWRL volunteers at the game 1 hour before commencement, upon receipt of the team sheet from team managers.

Interesting to see that a person that has appeared in 11 SG Ball games is worth 7 points whereas a Super Rugby player is only worth 8. I reckon you could sign 100 Ball players for the cost of a Super Rugby player.

Thats great - it is back in NSWRL draws instead of the Junior system, which means no unnamed players and proper times for tries and goals and hopefully a direction to insert teams by Tuesday afternoon.

Laybutt trials have been switched from saturday to sunday.

Went to Ringrose to watch Wenty v Mounties. SS played in oppressive heat, was won by Mounties 4 tries to 3. RMC was a close affair ending 4 tries each. Nothing much to take from the games,as teams will change dramatically before R1 but it was good to get back to the footy.

Henry Rawalui is back at Wenty after spending 2023 with London Broncos. I thought Robbie Graham had a strong game in the backrow for Wenty, who looked superb when they scored 3 tries in the first 8 minutes, but slowed down after that.

Wenty won both games RMC - 7 tries to 2, and SS 7 tries to 1. Hills scored both the tries in RMC in the last 5 minutes of the game.
Not a lot to take out of the games, in SS the Bulls seemed to have a lot of young players, not many familiar faces from their Premiership side. Again, in RMC, many new faces. Let's see what happens when the Norths Cup players turn up.

You are correct that quite a few SS players were given an opportunity, but Hill's last year, retained very few of their premiership team and became virtually dependant on North Sydney. 2 weeks ago when Hills beat an understrength Mounties team, the Norths guys wore their Norths shorts but today most of the players wore Hills shorts. There were at least 4 or 5 from Norths in the team today. Henry Rawalui, a member of Hills 2022 premiership team and Wenty's key playmaker, didnt play today.

Earlier, at St Marys, the home team beat Ryde Eastwood 6 tries to 2 in RMC and drew 4 tries all in SS. In the latter game the Hawks recovered from a 4-1 deficit. St Marys played 8 of their RMC premiership team today, as well as Mitch Butfield, who missed most of last season with a leg injury and Jamin Williams, yet another defection from Ryde Eastwood.

Hills will rely on the norths boys again this year. I’d say by this week or the next there will be a team of players drop down and fill in the numbers for shield and Massey.

Anyone going out to any trials games today ? Should get a fair indication of who will be in the squads for round 1.

St Marys had a good struggle with a solid Cessnock side today, with a strong finish giving the Saints a 26-10 victory. Williams scored the first try for St Marys in he 9th minute, but Cessnock steadied and replied with tries in the 19th and 27th minute to lead 10-6. St Marys hit back immediately via Sapienza and when Iaria scored 2 minutes before the break, the greens were up 14-10. Both sides pressured their opponents lines frequently, with Satini, in particular, being stopped by up to 4 defenders on a number of occasions in the vicinity of the try line.

The second half became a real arm wrestle with no score in the first 30 minutes. In this time both Fakatoumafi and Iaria were bundled into touch while attempting to score. Finally, former Silktail. Sirilo Lokokuro busted through for the decisive try. Satini added another in the 74th minute to give St Marys a 26-10 win.

The St Marys team was: 1 Masi Fidow 2 Jamin Williams 3 Will Fakatoumafi 4 Tony Satini 5 Mason Iaria 6 Todd Sapienza 7 Anthony Layoun 8 Mitch Butfield 9 Filo Tuimauagula 10 Niko Apelu 11 Joe Vaegauu 12 Steve Tavita 13 Jake Butfield 14 Fred Pupu 15 Vili Pupu 17 Quin Ma'aelopa 19 Sirilo Lokokuro 21 Sadee sub Laban 22 Renshaw???

Reece Goldsmith was missing with a leg injury from last week s was Christian Chrichton. Zac Greene did not play last week or today. Captain, Joe Vaegaau, went off with quad injury in the 10th minute as did Vili Pupu in the 33rd minute.

Earlier, an unfamiliar St Mary's SS team beat Cessnock reserve grade 54-6. the game was scoreless for about 15 minutes and then Sirilo Lokokuro and the big No 23 were inserted into the game and they caused absolute mayhem with the Saints running in 6 tries to lead 34-0 at the break. The big men went back to bench on resumption and Cessnock scored the only try up to the 65th minute and then the destroyers returned and the Saints another 4 tries. Luke Butfield kicked 7 from 9 (no attempt on final try)

A few of last year's SS GF team have moved to other clubs - Sam McGregor to Wests/Ryde Eastwood, Moung Dut to Norths/Hills, Daniel Sykes to Hills and Henry Tuiafiso to Cessnock 1sts. On the plus side, Manny Tagaloamatua, is back after a season as a key playmaker in the Brothers RMC team.
