Jackson Garlick, the Glebe veteran who retired midseason last year, is back playing with the South Eastern Seagulls, alongside George Burgess. The Seagulls are coached by John Sutton and assisted by Jai Arrow.

I think that might be his junior club, going off the old pie ads :)

While I am sure there are several players that could have won the award, Garvey was more than a worthy winner of the RM award. He has played very well all season and Glebe missed him when he wasn't there.
I would not be surprised if the Referees had some say,

No criticism of Garvey, he certainly has been good in the 2 semis, but it seems strange that the SS award did not go to a player from one of the 6 teams that finished above Manly in the table.

Here are some SS players that might have been considered:

Neville Verevakabau, Matt Curl and Peni Leveleve of Ryde Eastwood, Jayden Turara and Livai Saukuru of Mounties, Sadee Sub Laban of St Marys, and Noah Nailagoliva, Soakimi Fakaua and Donovan Boney of Brothers.

I havent seen a lot of Wenty but in those games they have won through consistent team efforts. Austin Quast had a few stand outs early but that resulted in his playing most of the season in RMC.

All teams nominated a player of the match (one from their club and one from their opponents) for each regular season round. Not sure how the calculations were done from there, but in RMC, it would be difficult to find a better player than Craig Garvey in 2024.

Now I know the system, I can understand the results. For my money Saints McCann Livingston was the standout in SS - a powerful runner both in the middle or on an edge, 12 trys for the season.
