The game might rate higher but would 9 pay more for it ?

They need the pre game show to sell advertising space.

9 dictates kick off times, if the NRL want it changed they'll have to take a financial hit.
The late kick off is bc nine has no clue how to properly market origin so just drags it out

maybe even 7.15pm kick off. 5pm news for an hour. then lead in. they can do news at 10pm if they like. the whole f**ken network is basically news, some rubbish reality and game shows, then NRL.

9 have experimented a few times over the years with KO times and days, they obviously think an 8:05pm kick-off with lead in from news and pre game show is the best way to maximise viewers and advertising dollars.

And yes, all FTA is these days is news, reality, game shows and sports because that's what rates, ppl who want American shows watch netflix.

I only look at the second set of figures below reach. That I think is average by 5 city metro non bvod and is around 900000. Wookie will know.
Thanks mate. And yeah, well done to the girls. The full stadiums give it a great atmosphere and even though they are mid sized grounds, it still looks like a big game atmosphere on TV which is awesome.

Rugby League and Soccer have really pulled ahead in women's sport now as they are the only two codes that have marquee women's rep teams that can pull big crowds and ratings.

In terms of domestic leagues. It seems NRLW is starting to win the battle against all the other codes. Hopefully we completely dominate that scene over the next 10 years

I get a feeling nrlw can canalise women’s union globally and that would help rugby leagues perception as an international sport

women’s World Cup could be bigger than unions

The fumblers are threatening to play Gaelic ball again to give their women an international comp. The gift that keeps giving that is.

AFL: let's do State of Origin... oh wait, nobody cares about Victoria vs the Axis/Confederacy/North-East Zone

AFL: let's do Internationals... oh wait, nobody plays fumbleball overseas

AFL: let's do Indigenous All Stars... oh wait, the game is full of Caucasians it would be White guys vs Black guys and that's not good...

The fumblers can think what they want but the Gaelic Athletic Association has no interest. The GAA is even more parochial than the AFL. Playing international games would distract from the County Championship. Why play for Ireland when you can play for County Offaly?
