You make a good point, even though the numbers of viewers available out of W.A. and S.A. aren`t huge, neither, unlike our rival, have NRL teams. Not having an NRL team makes it much less likely for the casual sports fans to be engaged with our sport, most likely just through a lack of coverage of the sport in those states.Hey man, I don't know you as a poster, I just read through a lot of shyte here.
I'm going to give you an insight as to what will happen next Sunday with the NRL Grand Final.
Melbourne people are going to watch it on a big scale. Why? Because they want to go for their city.
Sydney are going to watch it. Why? Because we all know it's going to be one of the best ever.
WA is going to watch it more than they have been. Why? Because they've got the sniff of being involved.
Qld are going to watch it. Why? Because they are Rugby League mad.
I reckon the NRL GF will top 5M.
Pretty solid. It still feels a bit like a tournament that’s been cobbled together (like our international game). It will take time and regular competition to really build on those numbers.NRLW rating a very respectable 260 000 for Sunday`s second semi. Also coming in 8th in the 16 - 39 year-old category.

I'm talking about the St Peter Vlandy's administration, those that came before him were all muppets.
Love to see a dollar value spent by the AFL per NSW player produced v spent by the NRL for Victorian players produced. Their spend would be rediculous for the mid results. We get amazing value for money
There was a sports survey earlier this year in western Sydney and afl ranked last in terms of participationStorm have virtually produce no one. So where is the value in that?
AFL knows you need to spend big to EVENTUALLY get the results you are looking for. It is looking pretty good if I was an AFL administrator. In another 20 years or so they will be producing around half the players the Sydney and QLD clubs need while I suspect Mel will still be fishing in Qld, NZ and Pacific Islands just like they are now with almost zero home grown talent to show.
The AFL have money. They don't care that they are spending millions or even if they eventually end up spending billions if in the end they have colonized the whole of the country and they end up the number one winter sport. Would you?
Not saying the NRL will die, but the AFL's big picture plan is to eventually dominate the entire landscape of Australia even if it takes another 20-50 years. You know, the type of far reaching strategy that the best and biggest transnational companies of the world do.
Who cares how much money you are spending if you are constantly eating up your competitors market share.
You know that not everyone in fumbleball states loves fumbleball. Melbourne Storm have made fantastic progress (now that they are trying) over the last couple of years and this will continue, Western Oz will soon be joining the party. We can probably expect 10 - 15 000 juniors in both those states over the next 10 years.while I suspect Mel will still be fishing in Qld, NZ and Pacific Islands just like they are now with almost zero home grown talent to show.
But they are not a transnational company, and don`t compare them to the NFL because there is a gladiatorial element to the NFL that fumbleball will never have. Not saying the NRL will die, but the AFL's big picture plan is to eventually dominate the entire landscape of Australia even if it takes another 20-50 years. Whats with the anomay of AFL getting more finals viewers when NRL gets more regular round viewers?
Fumbleball season must be over. While I understand everyone likes to stick the boot into the AFL and it's expansion teams in the non-AFL states of NSW and QLD, the Titans and their various predecessor guises in a staunch NRL state have hardly been a roaring success. I would dare say that if the Storm did not get all the leg-ups from News Ltd it would struggle to exist today.

I follow multiple sports like most people and has nothing to do with fumbleball season being over.Fumbleball season must be over.
Not to derail the tv thread further but seeing as WB rasied it a good article about the challenges and commitment AFL has to cracking Western Sydney. Imagine if NRl had a strategy and investment pot like this in AFL territory! There was a sports survey earlier this year in western Sydney and afl ranked last in terms of participation
The only impact they’ve made in Sydney is in private schools getting the tall stick insects who would’ve jumped in line outs
The breakfast point giants are the worst expansion team in Australian sports and it’s only the afl throwing away tens of millions keeping them alive
Most juniors from western Sydney don’t have the body types suited to afl (Israel Folau says hello)
Don't think it's that easy. NRL need to figure out why our viewership doesn't carry into the finals.
yes, but why?Finals are always like this.
