Depends who we are playing. India is rating pretty well atm and the Ashes will rate through the roof.
Yeah but if Australia isn’t playing them then who cares? The ratings for tests other than those two sides are poor, tests rarely last 4 let alone 5 days anymore, one day cricket is basically dead and the 20/20 comp is full of wannabe IPL players. The player base has diminished and is propped up by immigrants from the sub continent. That’s not a bad thing at all but there’s no doubt Australian love of cricket is in decline.

an average of 430,000 people per Test playing session watched nothing but rain and general cricket commentary on Saturday.

The FTA audience average was over 1 million yesterday per playing session.

Oh I thought cricket was dying? The savants on here leading me astray again.
Instead of being a smart ass I’d suggest you look at the decline in cricket participation and the overall drop off viewership and crowds since the inception of the BBL comp. By the way tonight’s BBL crowd was bloody awful. What will save cricket in this country is sub continent immigration. Just check local ovals on saturdays for evidence. You used to be a good poster. You’ve turned into a big dickhead.

This is the case for all sports. RL is boasted by the growth in the girls/women and Tag.

People are too time poor to spend hours playing sports.

The Pacific is key to RL continuing to grow

Sub continent immigration is crickets key

Difference is BBLs crowds have declined significantly from a few years ago and the tv ratings appear to as well. I agree that all sports are using new formats to boost participation. The afl uses blatant lies in contrast.

The BBL has the same problem as A League and NBL inferior players don't show the true popularity.

Gone are the days of the best players coming here

There are towns in my area that have fielded cricket teams in all age groups forever, some are fielding zero teams in any age category now and others maybe scrape together one junior team in a good year. Unbelievable.
Aboriginal kids have never gone near cricket around here, way too smart to stand out in the sun all day, it`s a game that is only passed down through generations and even that now is failing.
League on the other hand has had a boom in junior numbers the last couple of years, I`ll guarantee that is due to the positivity around the game and so many headline grabbing events for 9 months of the year, starting with Vegas every year now.
I work with a Victorian woman who loves her fumbleball, I asked her if her boys play League, soccer she said, ah ! the safe option I replied, they`re all League mad around where I live she told me through gritted teeth. Mitch Barnett territory.

It’s a shame the decline in cricket I used to watch as much cricket as league

Australia won too much it got boring

Warnie is the only sportsman from Victoria that I would really get behind

Have had zero connection to the sport for 15 years

Rugby league extending its season at the end and start has been so good you basically get two months tops with no league

I played for years. It got too much after working all week to stand all day to play a sport

Geez mate did I hit a nerve? That was a pretty big softball, I hardly laid the boot in. Cricket may well have declined from its peak (I don’t have the data to make that claim) but people on here acting like it’s some dying sport are laughable.
