Since rugby league provides 67 percent of the top 100 programs on Foxtel do the nut jobs who said the nrl will get a poor tv deal / Dazn won’t bid want to change their views before they look even more stupid (if that’s possible ?)
Only becomes relevant if there is genuine competitors willing to bid against them.

No one in their right mind would say Dazn is paying $3.4bn for Foxtel and would then not bid for NRL. if they do then it is a miracle they have the brains to be able to log onto the internet to post on LU. The big question is how much they will bid. Just because the NRL is the highest rating program(s), Dazn will still have a ceiling of what they are willing to pay which would be factored into the price they paid for Foxtel given they know the rights are up for renewal.

Which was my point. I never said they wouldn't bid, just that they wouldn't pay unlimited amount. That may lead to every game not being on fox

That is exactly what you said. Poor old WB’s comprehension skills have been addled by substance abuse.

Yeah he is cooked

I have said all along the overseas model is the way forward here.

Fox may have NRL on Sat. Stan has it on Sunday

The outcome is the same for the game. The game gets the money it deserves and the networks pay what they can afford.

Love to see the alts backtracking on their idiotic comments

Once the nrl gets a record tv deal they will do a full 180 and say that’s what they expected

Dazn didn’t just spend 3.5 billion on a network to lose the product that gets 67 percent of its most watched programs

isnt this cause host nations hold rights and therefore on-sell rights to tests/cricket being played in their nation? ppl suspects that maybe no one from aussie is bidding for these matches but maybe they have and sri lankan broadcaster wants more cash. that is more plausibly given the immediate attention and eyes glued to aussie test team atm. sri lankan broadies probs have a rough figure in their heads for what current aussie team and the attention they have on them is worth.

smart play.

There’s people on here who think dszn wont be bidding at all

Always people on here with these weird theories
I dont think anyone believes they wont be putting an offer in. What that offer is is largely determinant on competition not on the fact 67 of the top 100 sports events were NRL. We've led PTV ratings for at least the last two tv deals and it hasnt translated into higher $ deals than AFL.

crap for fans though who either accept limited games or have to fork out for numerous services.

That’s a different argument

I’m addressing the people who said Dazn might not bid at all

If Stan do bid as expected then the value of that 67 percent will be worth a whole lot more than afl are getting from Foxtel

All the nrl needs to do is get a fair value for its pay tv deal and it will beat afl

And given fta has origin they are paying almost half what seven pay afl so its ridiculously cheap
