After Vegas-bound Hull KR's dramatic and historic Challenge Cup triumph at Wembley Stadium, officials have announced the release of further tickets at the iconic London venue for the first Ashes Test.
With the Second Test at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium and the Third Test at AMT Headingley already sold out, demand has remained consistently high for the series opener at Wembley Stadium on October 25.
It will be the first time England has hosted Australia in an Ashes Test since 2003 and with seats in the lower bowl selling well, tickets have gone on sale for the upper tier of the North Stand.
These include some tickets at a new category price of £20 for adults and £10 for Under-16s.
Hull KR, coached by Willie Peters, beat the Sam Burgess-coached Warrington 8-6 in dramatic fashion to lift their first Challenge Cup trophy since 1980 before a crowd of 63,278 on Saturday.
Wembley hosted Britain's largest Ashes Test crowd of 57,034 on October 22, 1994 and the sellout in Everton, which has a 54,000 capacity, ensures the upcoming series will have the next biggest attendance.
Britain's overall Ashes attendance record in Britain of 140,432 for the 1994 series is also under threat.
Joe Steel, RL Commercial’s Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “This is another landmark moment in the build-up to this autumn’s long-awaited return of Ashes Rugby League.
“With the second and third Tests already sold out, we expect demand to witness the first Test at Wembley Stadium to continue to build through the summer.
“We’re delighted to have opened the upper tier with some great value tickets, providing more fans with more opportunities to watch world-class Rugby League at the National Stadium.
“Following a fantastic Challenge Cup Finals Day we’re excited to be returning to Wembley in the coming months for what promises to be another special occasion in 2025.”
