Question for people that know better than me? Was Dodd ever in line to be England's halfback for this series? Seems like such a shame that he's wasting away in NSW cup, can't the Rabbitohs just let him go back to SL if they aren't going to use him? I was hoping England would go into the Ashes and World Cup with an NRL halfback

No. Williams, Smith and Lewis are the three halfback contenders. The fact Dodd cant get an NRL start pretty much takes him out of the equation. There is a rumour Tyrone May wants to go play with his brothers at Tigers, wouldnt surprise me if that is happening if Peters hasn't been on the phone to his old club to try and get Dodd as a replacement.

Promotion for the Wembley game has noticeably ramped up already now the RFL's big events are out of way. Looks around 40-50k sold so far. Top tier has just been opened up, these tickets are pretty reasonable at 32 pounds (compared to 82 pound for tier 2 below)
There’s no way we’ve sold 40k let alone 50k or we’d have heard about it.

they’ve probably hit a predetermined number of tickets sold in the lower bowl which has triggered the opening up of the top tier.

ticket sales are probably in the mid 30’s which is still amazing this far out and I’m still confident we’ll hit 60k at least.

After Vegas-bound Hull KR's dramatic and historic Challenge Cup triumph at Wembley Stadium, officials have announced the release of further tickets at the iconic London venue for the first Ashes Test.

With the Second Test at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium and the Third Test at AMT Headingley already sold out, demand has remained consistently high for the series opener at Wembley Stadium on October 25.

It will be the first time England has hosted Australia in an Ashes Test since 2003 and with seats in the lower bowl selling well, tickets have gone on sale for the upper tier of the North Stand.

These include some tickets at a new category price of £20 for adults and £10 for Under-16s.

Hull KR, coached by Willie Peters, beat the Sam Burgess-coached Warrington 8-6 in dramatic fashion to lift their first Challenge Cup trophy since 1980 before a crowd of 63,278 on Saturday.

Former Rabbitohs and Dragons halfback Willie Peters, who did his coaching apprenticeship at Souths, Manly and Newcastle, guided Hull KR to their first Challenge Cup win since 1985.

Wembley hosted Britain's largest Ashes Test crowd of 57,034 on October 22, 1994 and the sellout in Everton, which has a 54,000 capacity, ensures the upcoming series will have the next biggest attendance.

Britain's overall Ashes attendance record in Britain of 140,432 for the 1994 series is also under threat.

Joe Steel, RL Commercial’s Director of Marketing and Communications, said: “This is another landmark moment in the build-up to this autumn’s long-awaited return of Ashes Rugby League.

“With the second and third Tests already sold out, we expect demand to witness the first Test at Wembley Stadium to continue to build through the summer.

“We’re delighted to have opened the upper tier with some great value tickets, providing more fans with more opportunities to watch world-class Rugby League at the National Stadium.

“Following a fantastic Challenge Cup Finals Day we’re excited to be returning to Wembley in the coming months for what promises to be another special occasion in 2025.”

1990-94 years was the golden era for me.

I'd have to agree. Back then GB actually won games against a stronger Kangaroo side than the one they have now.

If England don't win this time after 55 years of not beating Australia in a series, then we should never have another Ashes series ever again and should concentrate on 3 match series' between Aus and NZ. That hasn't happened since 1995.

GB last beat Australia in a single game in 2006, as England it's 1995.
