Stralia have bn winning for so long that interest has waned. More international competition, then I'm sure the Aussies will come out and support in greater numbers. Of course many in western Sydney see themselves and Tonga, Samoan, Lebanese, Maori, Fijian etc first, so that's a factor too.
Yet despite decades of all blacks dominance they never had a problem with crowds in nz? Don’t buy this ‘we always win‘ BS.
I don’t know any sporting side or nation whose fans give up on them because they win too much!

The Roos are slowly building their brand again after years of lip service to the international game after the SL fiasco where internationals became an afterthought for a decade. Since then we have been playing more tours, pac cups, tri and 4 nations with a more or less regular RLWC sort of. Give it time, the more they play the more they get noticed. The rise in the Pacific can only help.

In regards all that, what's England doing and how about France and Wales? Ireland and Scotland are make believe, yet the ARLC seems to cop flack even though the game has been slowly carving away for decades in this part of the world. What's the Northern hemisphere done beside retract? England should be doing more, esp with countries like Serbia and co who actually have decent setups and grass roots growth.
I’m sure if the RFL was given millions to develop the game in those nations like nrl has been given by the aus govt for png and the pacific they’d be doing more! Australia has ignored the game for decades, it’s only now due to millions from govt they’ve suddenly got interested, and even then still run Itn’s like sht.

Being a bit optimistic here, but I'd like to see at least 75k (which would break the world record test match attendance set during the 2013 RLWC final)
Can’t see it, being over here I’ve felt the vibe that fans don’t like Wane and see him as a wigan stooge who’ll favour wigan picks. it seems to be putting people from other clubs off supporting England.

add in an 8 hour round trip and cost and it’ll take England winning a few trophies before we see 70k+ at Wembley imo.

I think we’ll see around 55k-60k for wembley based on current ticket sales.

Teams being dominant doesn’t matter for sports that are actually viewed as a proper global competition. The problem is Australia is viewed as the big boys of the sport beating up on other countries, it’s not a real contest. It’s kinda like why there wouldn’t be a lot of interest in an NFL World Cup.

If Australia were to win the next 4 world cups in soccer no one would be bored, popularity would explode.

With the AB’s they’re dominating a sport that is viewed as a global game and in some ways they’re an underdog (look at the population of NZ compared to who they’re beating).

The problem isn’t just the dominance, it’s dominating a sport where people don’t take the competition seriously.

Channel 9 WILL be telecasting the Ashes! 💪

“Nine and DAZN have agreed to simulcast this year’s three-Test Ashes Series which will be played in England in October and November.”

It’s in this story, which I posted in the World Cup countdown thread as well:

$12m for the RLWC seems low…

London is as expensive as you make it. As I’m sure will be the case with Magic in Brisbane, the earlier you book, the cheaper you’ll get it. People moaning about London and staying in London baffle me, in all honesty. You’re in a very well connected city and transport is relatively easy (if a little scary looking if it’s new to you). For example, two nights in a Premier Inn (chain hotel) in Wembley for the Challenge Cup Final is more than double the cost of a Travelodge (Premier Inn’s competition) in Stratford. From Stratford, you can get the Jubilee Line direct to Wembley Park for about £8-9 on a Saturday. As will be the case everywhere, you make these things as cheap or as expensive as your budget can take. A Wetherspoons meal and a pint of beer will set you back £10-20, a McDonald’s £8-14 and a restaurant around Oxford Circus £30+ per person.

Trains are expensive to and from the north but again, if you’re organised and look into railcards, you can get some decent deals. Alternatively, drive somewhere south, find a secure car park for a couple of nights and do the last hour of the journey into London by train/tube.

There’s a real attitude problem with people in RL from the north. Cup finals and internationals are announced in advance. Sometimes way in advance. There’s plenty of time to work out routes, save money and organise proper trips.

Costing us
50 pound each train
67 pound each ticket
reckon we'll easily spend 100 pound on food and drink, tubes etc
accommodation is free as sister lives in london.

so for the two of us its costing us at least 334 pound ($680) without accommodation. (You can add in another 100-200 pound for a nights accommodation.)
So realistically your looking at round 450 pound ($930) for two unless your willing to do it in a day.
hardly a cheap game to attend!

Everton is costing us
40 pound each ticket
25 pound each day coach return
around 50 pound spending
180 pound ($370)

For comparison HKR play off game is costing us
26 pound each ticket
7 pound parking
20 pound spending
Total 53 pound ($110)

So yeh I can see why not everyone can afford to got to Wembley and why the two northern games have sold out so quickly.

My team:

1. Edwards
2. Coates
3. Lomax
4. Burton
5. Marky Mark
6. Munster
7. Cleary
8. Tino
9. Grant
10. Collins
11. Martin
12. Young
13. Yeo

14. Deardon
15. Carrigan
16. Cotter
17. A.Crichton

18. Walsh

Don't want Marky Mark there but Walters will pick him.

I don't want Lomax either but the options are scarce at centre.

Brailey, Walsh, Moses all unlucky to not make the 17 but should all make the squad. Extra forwards I'd have L.Smith and not sure? Cam Murray just hasn't played enough football.

My smokey would be Jesse Ramien. Such is our lack of options at centre.

Correct.

I believe the TV rights (and the anti siphoning laws) only state that Australian matches played in Australia must be available to FTA.
I think the laws say Australia-England in England is on the list, but that does not mean the FTA networks must broadcast it.

If it's not a reasomable contest, then the fans give up on it.
