Gold Coast is the big variable86,123 after 3 games (28,707 average)
So we want 73,877 (14,775) for the remaining 5 games to get a 20K average. Sunday's matches should get 40K, so just need a little over 10K for each of Saturday's.
Warriors first 2 home games of 2025 have shown that the talk last year of the club needing a bigger stadium was a bit premature. And that NRL are right to be cautious regarding NZ2.Amazing warriors crowd tonight. Just imagine if they have a run of form, definitely the sleeping giant of the NRL I really hope we see another NZ team in the next 5-10 years, will be huge for the game.

One season of sell-outs for the Wahs doesn't disturb the fundamentals. Efforts to break the NZRU stranglehold on schools are more important long-term. The popularity of League in NZ will continue to wax and wane so long as Union remains the default playing option.
This was true prior to the previous TV deal, NRL gained control of that back. It's why Brisbane don't get as many Fridays as they once didChannel nine gets first pick of games
Nrl don’t have a choice in general when games are on
Nine sees that time slot as the most important for the week
78,000 at MCG tonight and 68000 for Thursday night at MCG and we get excited over 86,000 for 3 games. That's sad really.86,123 after 3 games (28,707 average)

Not sure what posts you're reading, but I'm not really seeing a lot of excitement for Thursday/Friday crowds.78,000 at MCG tonight and 68000 for Thursday night at MCG and we get excited over 86,000 for 3 games. That's sad really.
Unless today's rain is heavy, they'll be over 10K. In fairness to the Titans, they've had very few sub-10K crowds (minus the COVID years where everyone was affected) in their history.Gold Coast is the big variable
I think it’s feasible that there would be a crossover of fans. The a league side being popular also makes a good case for a better stadium at mt smart. Two high pulling tenants. Worked for ParraNew a league side will have taken a few casuals
Still they average 17k and wahs are over 20k
Living in Newcastle as I do and also spending a fair amount of time in Geelong you can see why it is they get much bigger crowds down there. They put so much work into having a presence in their areas while in Newcastle the knights put about zero effort in from what I can see.Not sure what posts you're reading, but I'm not really seeing a lot of excitement for Thursday/Friday crowds.
As for the AFL, we'll played to them, they have done a massive job developing an attendance culture. We're no where near that and are not going to be anytime soon. For the NRL, the goal is to get our average to 20K and try to push for 25K.
I`d expect it to go back to sell-outs again pretty quickly now that the Wah`s are showing a bit of grit and actually winning a few games.View attachment 100082
You for real two crowds over 20’000 would show that we do need a more updated stadium. Only the all blacks are a better ticket in town. I really don’t see how anyone could put a negative slant on our crowds this year.
Less broncos games on Friday night cause Foxtel got more exclusive broncos games when they paid an extra 20 m pa for the dolphins a few years back (think it was 4 to 6 more broncos games switched from nine to Fox)This was true prior to the previous TV deal, NRL gained control of that back. Not negative, just realistic. League in NZ seemed on the verge of a pivotal breakthrough in the early-mid 90s. Then it mostly fell away, not only due to the SL war. NZRU had the means to fight back. Plenty of evidence they still do.You for real two crowds over 20’000 would show that we do need a more updated stadium. Only the all blacks are a better ticket in town. Bound to be a first-season bubble for Auckland FC. Might be bursting already. Last week's crowd was 14k.New a league side will have taken a few casuals

Eventually yeh buts it’s still well top of the a league and I’m sure it’s pulled a few thousand away from the wahsBound to be a first-season bubble for Auckland FC. Might be bursting already. Last week's crowd was 14k.
All we can hope for is people just keep an eye on the weather and don't get turned away when it starts raining. rain in Robina is supposed to ease up before kick-off around 6; but the city is full of pedantic people so who knows; could see it be 15k+ or sub 10k.Unless today's rain is heavy, they'll be over 10K. In fairness to the Titans, they've had very few sub-10K crowds (minus the COVID years where everyone was affected) in their history.
Today's game has had some sales, first home game, etc. It will most likely be the biggest crowd for a game today.
Wouldn't argue with either of these points. And the tv ratings were up 14 percent last year (off topic) but there’s been a massive surge in rugby league popularity in nz
If the warriors stay above 20k for the next five years that’s a massive win

The big AFL clubs (most of them) actually make more from game day than their share of the broadcast rights. That is why the AFL prioritises crowds over ratings. NRL is the opposite. Not sure what posts you're reading, but I'm not really seeing a lot of excitement for Thursday/Friday crowds.
