That`s the thing with a better stadium. As the stadium is now, or any stadium for that matter, there will be a certain percentage of seats that are harder to sell every week, even a new stadium will have that problem, but a bigger better new stadium will have a larger number of better viewing seats that will be easier to sell and hence the average will go up.

I agree. But some posters last year said the Warriors run of sell-outs would in itself drive higher demand.

First two games of 2025 are a reminder that "fear of missing out" is not enough to maintain an attendance culture. Especially for a game like RL which works so well on TV.

The biggest plus of the Bulldogs being competitive is they help lift other Sydney crowds.

Analyses of upcoming NRL crowds often carry references to whether the home team won or lost the previous week. Fan culture is one means of overcoming the vicissitudes of form.

Back when English Soccer was pay-at-the-gate, every Man Utd away game became a giant magnet for home supporters regardless of results or positions on the ladder. A Red Army invasion was an unmissable event.

Could the Bulldogs fanbase be a similar draw around Sydney? i.e. might a higher number of casual Eels fans want to be at CommBank on Sunday because they expect a large Bulldogs contingent to generate a vibrant atmosphere?

Unfortunately for many casual fans of opposing teams when large numbers of Dogs fans are involved I expect quite the opposite. Remember the Raiders drummer bloke getting harassed on the streets of Belmore last year. We were in the middle of them at Kogarah at the end of last year and not again thank you. When I do it again I want good grandstand seats so as to view their antics from afar. I`ll also feel a lot safer winding them up from a distance.
I`m not sure whether "vibrant" exactly describes the atmosphere that Bulldogs fans bring to games. Boorish, obnoxious and even deliberately intimidating much closer to the mark.

Now, the carnival atmosphere at the Pacific Cup games, much more likely to attract the casuals, I imagine Mt. Smart is very similar.

When are they forced out of that tiny stadium? Aren’t they meant to be upgrading it? Anyone have the plans or any information?

probably not the best wording but my point stands, they’re leaving 10-20k fans locked out of games this season. not sure what their home game split is going forward but Kayo ain’t it.

for perception wise Suncorp is much better.

They'd have the money easily. Have you ever been? The place is huge. The money pumped into thier pokies would pay for a stadium

I can't understand why more people don't go to the games.I don't mind drivig hour and half to 2 hrs to Storm home games.

Partly it is culture that has come in part from RL games historically being played on ovals where you have a terrible view (eg SCG) and it’s better to watch on TV. Even now our biggest games are played at a stadium where the view is woeful - I know a lot of people who will not go to stadium Australia. The newer stadiums like Parra the view is better than you get on tv. We’ve got to get rid of crap viewing stadiums and then gradually watch crowds increase which is happening.

Like Thursday nights. Families find it hard cos of school and work on Friday.

Even Friday night kids sport is on the next day.

Older fans with kids grown up or young fans in their 20's is better for that day.

Correct. People only look at crowds in isolation without taking the whole situation into account

The biggest plus of the Bulldogs being competitive is they help lift other Sydney crowds. Looking ahead, already next week's Sharks v Bulldogs game is down to GA only & the Knights and Rabbitohs games are already enjoying pre-sales this far out.

95% of seats at Shark park are already sold to Season Seat holders. All home games will like this to start with.

Think I recall your cyberspace alter ego was battening down the hatches last year during the lead-up to Dragons v Bulldogs at Kogarah. Seemed a bit of an overreaction given that this character resides in the Manning Valley. However, we'll issue a pardon if you were at the game.

BTW, the aforementioned Man Utd invasions were not all sweetness and light. Didn't stop the locals enjoying themselves. Poms are made of tougher stuff.
