South Sydney do the absolute bare minimum when it comes to promoting attendance at their games.

The way they organise the club, what they put their efforts into, etc, it's all around selling memberships and merchandise. It's been that way since they moved to Homebush, where to paraphrase multiple members of their senior management team, the mantra was 'every dollar spent on marketing is a dollar less of their game guarantee'.

Unfortunately even with those guarantees gone, the club has never changed their approach. From a financial perspective, I understand why the club focuses so heavily on memberships, I mean it has underpinned the club financially, though its a shame they don't do more.

Why the actual F do the Rabbits play thier home games in a a stadium 50km away from thier suppprters in a soulless stadium no one wants to be in ?

And who was the genius at NRL who scheduled this game for thursday prime time ?

These empty stadiums are such a bad look on tv, the causul fans think if the teams fans arent bothered why should i...lets switch over and see whos playing in the AFL
It's a bad look for any premium sport and I wonder what PVL thinks of it and after all the huff and puff of Last Vegas you have this shit.

Its sad, as a Souths member a lot of fault has to be with Solly and the board. Basically at the AGM they admitted that we will likely be there till 2030. It is deflating they took the conservative decision over having a go and getting to the SFS. Maybe its the private owners not wanting take a risk of having to put more cash in.. I don't know but it is diabolical nearly every Souths fan I know hates it.

Thursday nights at Homebush should be illegal. I had to restructure my whole day with kids footy training etc to get there. Got home at 11.30pm. Blah blah.

Only about 500 Panthers fans there too. Would have been worse for them.

Oh and they want to charge you $90 for a decent seat.

Anyway, that’s actually 20% bigger than our two Thursday night games last year.

Aren't Souths meant to be the pride of the league with the biggest fanbase? Even the Sharks can do better than this. We'll show you how it's done in Brisbane tomorrow night in the pouring rain
It hurts that most of our huge fanbase are septuagenarians and watch from home.

Also I wonder how many the Broncos would get if they competed with 7-8 other Brisbane teams and their stadium was in Beenleigh

Thursday night footy is a crowd killer. 10k is more than I expected. Even the AFL was down massively last night, it's not a rugby league problem.

I would have gone if that game was in any other slot, but it was logistically impossible last night.

Would have loved to have been there.

Also, feel sorry for our opponents from last night, the Panthers have been hung out to dry by the league next week.

- 6pm start 30km from their base
- against NQ whose diehard supporters won't be able to make it either
- casual fan looking for a night out will go to the derby at Accor
- 3 straight losses as well, plus the fan fatigue from being so successful for so long

Our draw is for TV plain and simple.

I rekon it might be time to bring back the old TV scheduling.

Nine and Fox would pick thier games a month ahead, this stuffed fans around a bit by not knowing what day/time thier team would be playing 4 weeks ahead.

Under the old scheduel, Nine would be dumping all thier Eels and Dragons games and picking up Tigers and Dogs games.

Would have been better to have Sharks V Dogs at a full Shark Park last night.
