2025 Crowd Watch

It's still early days, so we don't need to hit any panic buttons just yet. We haven't had Easter yet (Round 4 last year) whilst the likes the Broncos, Knights & Bulldogs have only played one home game so far (with the Bulldogs match being at Belmore).

If the Roosters, Dolphins, Cowboys & Eels could start a winning streak, that would definitely help, as each of those clubs can average 20K+.
It’s important to keep expectations in check. The last 2 seasons have just seen absolute ludicrous growth that has altered expectations. Before the last 2 seasons it had been well over a decade of stagnant crowds of around 16-17K average. Despite a slightly slower start we’re still well up on that with some huge potential to go upwards.

The truth is just 3 years ago 20K average crowds seemed like a pipe dream and now it’s become expected.

From memory, Level 4 for the Bulldogs' last home game on Good Friday (2023) only opened in the same week as the game. Entering that game, the Bulldogs were 13th on the ladder (3 wins, 3 losses) and the Rabbitohs were tenth (3 wins, 3 losses). With some inclement weather, that game drew a crowd of 35,211.

Fast forward to 2025 and Level 4 is on sale more than 2 weeks in advance of the game. We have a situation where the Bulldogs are top of the ladder (4 wins, 0 losses) and the Rabbitohs are seventh (3 wins, 1 loss). It's safe to say the crowd looks like it will be the first 40,000+ crowd on Good Friday in ten years, but this weekend's results (particularly for the Bulldogs) will go a long way to determining what a possible ceiling really is.

There's a possibility that the Bulldogs going 1-0 (and remaining top of the table) and the Rabbitohs going 2-0 (and getting into the top 4), COMBINED with a mint day weatherwise, could generate a record regular season rugby league crowd (the high water mark is currently 59,708 at Accor for the minor premiership battle between the Roosters and South Sydney in 2013).

I think regardless if the Dogs win or lose against Newcastle 40,000 will be there on Good Friday... We will be either 5-0 with a bye or 4-1 with a bye, with Kiks, Burton coming back on Good Friday it will add to the excitment.

I think the difference between 45-50K or 60K will be South Sydney fans. For me over the last 10 years South Sydney fans have been disappointing in the turn out considering they have been above us on the table and favourites for all those years! I hope they win the next 2 games or atleast 1 of them.

How much are the crowds effected by the cost of living atm? The footy isn't cheap. I wish we could run some cheaper tickets .
It is the working man's game after all.
We got 5 tickets to Saints/Parra game on Saturday, I`m paying for everyone so I didn`t really feel like forking out $500 for sideline seats so I got 5 GA tickets behind the posts for $40, one of those $30 because my daughter is still technically a student, $190 all up so not bad, and I`ve read on here previously that behind the sticks at Commbank is the dirty little secret of hardcore fans at that ground.
Taking my daughter`s cello playing, German speaking, AI professional boyfriend along for his first live game of Rugby League, they`ve been going out for three years so I have to start taking him seriously, he doesn`t know it yet but he is an honorary St. George supporter now. Should be interesting.

The Broncos vs Tigers game is on target for a sell out (or to single seats, at least). Seats held for new members have been added to the map and I'd guess about 1700 seats left. Once sold, approximately 1500 restricted view will be released.

Not sure about flexi members, they will probably pull the crowd down to 45k-ish. Like a few of us here, I was shocked at the 45k vs the Cowboys, that looked more like 47-48k. Corporate packages are appearing as 'no longer on sale' so I presume that they are sold out.

In any case, I'd expect a ground record vs the Tigers.

$190 is fine for 1 off. Maybe 1 time a month but no one is paying that every fortnight.

This is why Sydney people pick and choose what games to attend

crowds were the highest last year when inflation was higher than it is now
Inflation "RATE" has come down but Inflation ( things going up) still exist.
Meaning everything has continued to incrementally increase in price Consistently and over time, like compared to last year , everything is more expensive today and will be tomorrow.
Another rate hold Meaning mortgages remain high also.
Luckily the government is handing out cash, that way Inflation never ends and rates remain high- thanks government lol

It's almost like all the free cash from covid has to be repaid one way or another...

I think it's an issue at larger grounds. GA at Accor ($35 adult/$20 child) is unwatchable, so you need a decent seat and that's a rip off ($55 adult/$40 child to sit on try line, or $90 adult/$65 child to sit on half way on Eastern side).

Storm have made the GA areas for next week's clash against the Warriors allocated seats. From a sales side, it looks over 20K already & I imagine will push for sell out with the Wahs 3-1.
Warriors are one of their biggest draws. That’s why they losing Anzac Day game wasn’t such an issue because they were going to sell out or close to for a normal round game

Level 4 for the Good Friday game at Accor has now been opened, when it's opened the crowd is roughly 30,000... we are over 2 weeks out from the game.

50,000 is a realistic chance weather permitting.
Doggies going going to lead the Sydney crowd averages by a long way this year

Dunno if anyone else in Sydney will break 20k tops

Doggies could break 30k average which would be amazing for a Sydney club
