2025 Crowd Watch

There has never been a regular season crowd of 60k in 117 years of Rugby League in Australia, so that would be something.
It would be huge.

In an ideal world, the very suggestion of it would mobilise the impartials to get along to create a bit of history. To demonstrate both the growth of the game, and that there is benefit in considering future investment in Accor Stadium as a place that not just holds big events, but can also accommodate sizeable demand from content that should be built up by the NRL, Venues NSW and the clubs themselves

The NRL reports that Canterbury is expecting a crowd of 30,000 for the Sunday evening game vs Newcastle:

Canterbury are expecting a crowd of 30,000 fans to descend on Accor Stadium for the final game of Multicultural Round on Sunday evening, with the club to celebrate a diverse playing and supporter group.

TfNSW has released guidance for getting to the NRL Good Friday Game at Accor Stadium. Seems they are planning to coordinate transport services to accommodate a 45,000+ crowd for the game.

From memory, last year they were indicating they were planning for a 30,000+ crowd for the game. So all the signs are pointing to an historic crowd figure.

Canberra crowd a bit meh. Seems they don’t mind the 6pm Friday games as they often draw ok to them but Thursday seems to hurt their crowds.

I truly believe Canberra would draw 20k+ for every home game if the stadium was in the CBD. I am always blown away by the away support which is clearly a result of the transient population of Canberra.

Such a shame that the venue and the location is a dump. It really could be one of the best regular season atmospheres/fixtures with a proper venue.

Probably could help Canberra get bigger events/concerts etc.

And they have an a-league team incoming which would help with usage. Between raiders, brumbies and the soccer team that's ~35 fixtures a year then you have women's soccer as well and concerts etc

Just like the SFS and Adelaide Oval it would result in an attendance explosion and greatly benefit civic/braddon based businesses. That isn't enough to sway the AFL lover though apparently.

On the Late Show with Matty Johns, word is that the crowd between the Bulldogs and the Knights could hit 40,000 on Sunday night:

I think there's probably a bit of hyperbole in that. The last time a regular season crowd of 40,000 was speculated at Accor for a Doggies game, a (very good) crowd of 35,502 was reported for the R26 clash vs Manly at Accor last year. Level 4 East was open for that, but it isn't yet open for Sunday night. Considering we still have more than 2 days of ticket sales to go, I think it's possible the game could nudge 30,000.
They also got 32k against the Cowboys in the final round, which was excellent considering the Cowboys aren't a high crowd drawer at the best of times outside of finals in Sydney

Lucky it wasn't at Belmore!
