NRL website is giving the 11,102 figure for the crowd, which is at odds with what the Tigers told us

Next weeks crowds don't look the best.

Thursday - Reserve Grade Dogs V Dolphines - 15,000
Friday - Parra V Manly - 15,000
Saturday - Riff V Knights - 10,000
Saturday - Roosters V Sharkes - 20,000
Sunday - Warriors V Raiders 22,000

Total - 82,000
Average - 16,400

Thursday and Friday look to be rain affected... I think Eels V Manly could get more maybe.
Warriors v Raiders has been sold out for a couple of weeks now (correction, one member seat has been put on re-sale) and the weather is set to be fine on Sunday in Auckland, so hopefully that crowd should push into the 24K+ realm.

Bulldogs v Dolphins has some okay pre-sales, we may get a slight lift on that. I'm hopeful the Belmore crowd of just under 18K is the Dog's lowest home crowd this year. Unfortunately for Eels v Sea Eagles, sales have pretty much stopped since Moses was named in the Origin squad. Hopefully they pick up again, or the Eels try something to move seats, but 15K might be a bit too ambitious.

Thursday night games are never going to get big crowds so they should take as many as possible to regional areas. League needs to win Wagga Wagga back from AFL so take a couple of Canberra games there each year.
Agree. Panthers v Knights would have been a better pick for Thursday night. Bathurst still would have sold out, but at least would have allowed Bulldogs to draw another 5-10K on Saturday.

Venues like McDonald's Park in Wagga Wagga, C.Ex International Stadium in Coffs Harbour, Glen Willows in Mudgee, Port Macquarie Regional Stadium, Scully Park in Tamworth all should be in the mix for Thursday night matches, especially around Origin period.

I’d go as far as making all regional games be played either Thursday night or Friday 6pm, or Monday night if/when it returns.

By regional I mean the type of places you listed with smaller stadiums and populations. Places like Sunshine Coast, Central Coast, Hamilton etc get a pass for weekend games.

The nrl should be lobbying the qld gov to make the new stadium multipurpose with a decent rectangular configuration & have the dolphins play there.
Everyone knows that makes complete sense. A 60k capacity crowd, rectangular should see NRL move 3 state of origins there every 2 yrs plus an NRL GF every 3 yrs or so and magic round to sweeten the deal.

I could be wrong but it seems to me that they don't include the corporate tickets. The NFL game for example is listed at 51, 707 on your tweet, but when you look up the crowd for the event, its listed at 61, 352.

Apparently Abdo confirmed this to be the case last year. looking for a quote now.

Unsure if you'll have much luck with the quote, but has happened consistently for almost every event on the LV Stadium Authority Quarterly Report. Makes me pretty confident that it's different reporting criteria. Far too consistent and across too many different sports not to be.

Not good for fans travelling 3, 4 hours though on a school/work night.

I think the 5.30pm start this weekend in Bathurst is a good time.

I'd have all regional games on a Saturday arvo or 5.30pm on a Saturday.

The point is that lots of fans dont turn up on thursday night anyway even if they have a season ticket. The ones who do travel from the city out to the regional area for the game should take the friday off work and hang around the town.

What about Albury-Wodonga? That is 100k population. Is that a lost cause for RL? That would be a good spot for an annual Raiders v Storm game. The NRL should help fund a proper ground there.

Albury-Wodonga would be a great option for a game, and there are a few venues there which are adequate, including Lavington Oval (12K) & Albury Sports Ground (8K)l the later hosted a Storm v Knights trial in 2021.

Sorry wasn't meaning for my list to be a definitive list, there are plenty of other worthwhile targets and not only in NSW. Queensland has plenty, and I'd even consider venues like TIO Stadium in Darwin in the mix.
