Hey does anyone have confirmation on the Canberra prelim?

If they win today will the prelim be at SFS or Bruce?
Canberra hosted a preliminary final in 2019. So yes, 100% confirmed that Canberra will host another one if they beat the Broncos this afternoon.

The NRL changed the rules on venues that can host preliminary finals a few years ago to allow Newcastle and Canberra to host preliminary finals and rightly so, because their ground capacities are in the same range as Melbourne's, Nth QLD's and the Warrior's home venues, which have all been allowed to host preliminary finals for years, let alone Canberra and Newcastle's home grounds are far enough away from Accor/Allianz Stadium.

Hint from Abdo at a possible Sunday arvo preliminary final in a fortnight's time:

If it happens, this will be the first time since 2007 (when the Storm beat Parramatta infront of nearly 34k, which has still remained the Storm's largest home crowd to date) that this has happened.

I hope this happens. Good to see the NRL administration finally grow a pair of balls and stick it up to the bullies at Ch9. As I've said before, this change (even to get week 2 finals changed from Friday night/Saturday night to Saturday night/Sunday) was LONG overdue.

Sunday Afternoon gives Panthers fans no excuses not to turn up.

What exactly is your point when you post something like this?

How does one define ‘turn up?’

The SMH is reporting that the target is 70,000 for Sunday afternoon, which would be incredible. By any metric that would be a huge success.

They won't get anywhere near 70,000 if Panthers fans don't show up. I want to see that stadium filled as much as possible and my point is that the timeslot is perfect for a big crowd. If they played it at night you could 100% see some fans not being bothered to attend.

The positive is that most Bulldogs and Panthers fans did not get to see their team play live this weekend. This should hopefully mean they are all out in force for what will be the only finals match they can attend before the grand final.

Hopefully Canberra still sells out again despite the loss. I imagine many Raiders fans will have a bad taste in their mouths from the way that game ended today.
