But Canberra have one team and Sydney has 8.5 teams (Dragons being the 0.5), so 647,000 per team in Sydney. Given Bruce Stadium fits 24,000, that would mean a Sydney team need to get 36,000 to be the equivalent of a Bruce sellout taking into account the population ratio difference (1.43). Canterbury should have 50,000 fans there tomorrow and Penrith might get 10,000-15,000 there. 65,000 ain't too shabby bad compared to Canberra selling out a 24,000 venue, when essentially there is a 1.43 pop ratio difference per team.
Fair crack, you can't convince me the Sharkies have a 647k share of the total.

After so much recent success, why should it take another 20 years?
Generally people who already support a team don't swap sides once they're an adult. That's not to say that there isn't a percentage who won't or one's who may actively support a second team, but generally fans are more likely to reduce their overall engagement or stop following all together then change.

That leaves only two markets for teams to attract new fans from. Kids & adults who previously haven't supported the sport.

Kids are were the Panthers are having the majority of the success at the moment in terms of growing their supporter base. It will take 10-20 years for those kids to be old enough to be able to attend games on their own.

People don't change their team. But kids decide to support successful teams. Dogs and Parra supporter base now goes back to the success of the 80s. What does happen with success is that you become a drawcard when playing away, which explains the Bulldogs numbers. They don't get 65,000 playing the Titans.

Especially when a new broadcast deal is being negotiated. I can't imagine the TV ratings for that potential game would be any good.
