The Broncos are running sponsored ads to try and sell it out:

That’s good from the Broncos and also helps the cause to get an increase in stadium seats

This game gets bigger every year... driving around Sydney plenty Tongan Samoan Flags... plus I've got Tongan mates, and it's a really big deal for them... All most origin like.... Next 10 years this rivalry will be a behemoth.
I drove through Rooty Hill on the day of the World Cup final 3 years ago. I reckon at least 15% of cars had Samoan flags on them. Every other street corner had a party with Samoans blasting by as well. Absolutely mental, would have been at least 5,000 people there, this was 15 hours before kick off. Was almost like being in Apia.

He doesn't compare crowds because league comes second to AFL, not because we don't kowtow to anyone. He talks ratings up, which i said was smart on his behalf as league outrates AFL.

While matchday revenue is dwarfed by broadcast revenue, crowds aren't irrelevant otherwise people wouldn't be talking about getting bigger stadiums for a few extra thousand seats. Also if crowds aren't at games atmosphere is crap and comes through on the tv as well. Everything contributes and can't be viewed in isolation.
Add TV viewers and attendance figures together and there is your total audience. Out total audience blows them out of the water.

No argument from me about that. And PVL and the rest of the ARL should be congratulated for where they have taken the game and placed it in such a strong position.

But lets not intimate that it's only the AFL that talk about crowds when there is a dedicated thread here with thousands of posts with posters asking for tickets sales updates and discussing sellouts. Or that the reason PVL doesn't compare AFL crowds with NRL crowds is because we don't kowtow to anyone when the reason is that average league crowds are about half the AFL. And I agree with PVL's strategy, he always discusses tv viewer numbers when comparing with the AFL, to compare crowds is silly when your opposition has higher numbers.

Sold or sale?;
My wording wasn't great. Around 30K released for sale in the ground.

In terms of sold, I'd be guessing around 20K. The unknown is the the first 15 or so rows in the middle bays in the south stand. These haven't been released on Ticketek, so may open up later or (hopefully) are what's been given to NZRL partners, etc. If that's the case, that adds another 2K-4K.

That being said, this game should comfortably get over 30K with over a week of sales left. It's a real chance of challenging the 35,399 the 2012 ANZAC Test drew at the venue.
