Opening up the entire non-tv side over the tv side is a choice alright. Perhaps the Western stand will be next.

Eden Park is such an odd stadium with its lay out haha.

NZRL has been saying from the start that the expect 40K for the match. (https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/ru...tests-on-sunday-is-a-sin-20251014-p5n2bm.html)

Current pre-sales for the game have exceeded Mt Smart"s capacity and game is trending for between 34K-38K
Assuming it was actually fully open for sale, the entire lower and mid levels are now sold out (or singles only remaining). I don't understand the doom and gloom here, that must be above 30k with 4 days to go. Not that you'd know, not a peep from either the NZRL or the media here talking about it.

Updated sales map for Eden Park. Eastern upper sold out a lot quicker than I expected, though NZRL continues to hold off opening the upper western stand. As @ouwet mentioned, Bronze bays have been opened up on Level 6 South and already there is some healthy movement in both them and the silver seats.

I've updated the sales map to highlight the parts of Eden Park which are reserved for stadium members (Green) who get access to all sporting events at the ground. I'm not sure if the NZRL + Eden Park Trust have allowed 'Rugby + Cricket' members to get access to Sunday's game, but if they have, then there will be people on Level 5 in the North Stand.

Red indicates the corporate hospitality areas which are on sale / have been sold for the game. I'm not sure if corporates also get access to some of the seats on Level 4 south or not.

Wasn’t there a late surge of ticket sales 1-2 days out from the NZ v Tonga game at mt smart 2 weeks ago?

hopefully we get a similar late surge that pushes the Eden park crowd north of 35k.

The record average crowd for a Rugby League tournament* is 26,041 for the 2004 Tri Nations.

To break the record we will need 19,836 each from Eden Park and Commbank. I'd say we are about to break another crowd record.

Edit: *international Rugby League tournament
Is this for the pacific cup or the whole pacific championship?

Pacific Cup

If we get a huge crowd at Eden Park and a full house at Commbank and PNG we'll probably still beat the average for the whole Pacific Championships.

But yeah, Cup and Bowl are essentially different tournaments as there is no pool crossover matches and Bowl teams aren't eligible to make the cup final.

Do the winners of the Pacific Bowl get to play the lowest ranked team from the Pacific Cup to get promoted? Pretty sure this is what happened last year when PNG played NZ after the final.

The official line was that it was due to the Cook Islands needing to play their RLWC qualifier that weekend.

Considering the RLPA rules around when internationals need to be finished by, number of Tests and nation can play, etc there is possibly some truth to it, though the chance of CI ever finishing top of the bowl was always very low.

Yes it has happened the last couple of years. I think it's not happening this year because there is no Pacific Championships next year because of the World Cup.

Knowing our luck, if we gave it the opportunity to happen it would. PNG & Fiji would have a tremendous amount of injuries and lose in close encounters or something like that.

New Zealand's B team scrapped home with a 54-12 win in the relegation game.
That NZ were in a relegation game at all is enough.

Anyway I'm over the P&R idea. There's a clear divide in audience interest in Samoa and Tonga compared to PNG and Fiji. The sport needs to maximise commercial viability of test footy and the best way to do that is have a consistent Pacific Championship with Aus NZ Samoa Tonga.

In the Bronze sections on Level 6, 632 is pretty much gone now, 641 is moving quickly whilst the others are chipping away. In the silver, 634 is more than 80% sold, whilst 637 in the gold is half sold.

Bit preemptive doom posting here. It’s Wednesday morning in Auckland and the amount of tickets sold is likely just above or on whatever Mt Smart holds these days (which seems less now for league game).

Finally opened up the West with cheap $20 tickets.

Seems like a lot of tickets were sold yesterday in general around the stadium! Level 5 opened up but Platium $100 tickets. Could this crack 40,000?

$100 tickets is absolutely crazy for a NZ home international.

I honestly think anything over 30k in New Zealand is a fantastic crowd. 40k would be incredible
