You can’t tell me Billy Walters isn’t hoping for a Melbourne win esp with his old man and now Billy getting the boot.. He’ll prob get his wish and again we will wonder what all the fuss was about with the Broncos. Watch out for Hunt to win or lose it… he knows he’s been playing shit lately. That saga may play out some more…I can’t wait for this game. If Melbourne and Penrith were playing, my interest level would drop probably 90% such is the story line with this one.

I don’t think those old Broncos legends will last another tension filled finish.. They’ve been waiting longer than us for the P? .Does anyone want the storm to win? Apart from Billy

Great to see Madge win the GF, after the way the culture-less clowns at Wests treated him - both players and management need to have a good look at themselves and realise what sort of commitment it takes to be real winners. Benji needs to drive the prima donna’s into the ground in the off season and anyone that whinges or leaks that it too hard needs to be given a free bicycle to f**k right off

Not having Reece Walsh, Payne Haas, Carrigan s leadership prob makes a difference ..…Madge should be coach of the year after that effort with that team but He FAILED as the Tigers coach ..He still hasn’t got the patience insight comm skills etc to work add / delete players to lift a team from the doldrums or prob any of the bottom half teams in the comp..ala Des Hasler…For the Broncos He likely changed for the players as much as they changed for him as was needed making him an improved coach.. . But he couldn’t do that at the tigers..It’s the coach that needs to have control of all that and more not the players otherwise he can fk off

I couldn’t disagree more, in Madge the tigers had a coach that had won premierships, who came knowing what sort of character and commitment it takes to win. We had players and club officials whining and undermining the bloke from the day he walked in the door, it was a disgrace the way he was treated and the whinging players and lack of support from the administration tells the tail of what a shit culture the club had, white ants and grubs infested the joint. Richo and the addition of a few boys from winning cultures seems to have fumigated the joint for now but give it another year. Fingers crossed we’ll have something resembling a successful season next year to cultivate the a proper winning culture.

Madge was backed for a long time before he wasn’t…he’s only coached gun teams or not far off since.. I get your frustration with the admin and shit players he had to work with tho. I think Pascoe and his mate stuck their nose in those affairs too much. There recruitment input appeared to be comical. There’s no argument from me there..At the Broncos however, Madge only needed to bring in hunt to cover injuries and retain the rest (at least pretty much) . Bringing in Hunt was a master stroke. I thought at the time it was clever. it’d be interesting to have had Richo’s time coincide with Madge’s.. I think the recruitment would have been better for starters. I still think from a coaches perspective it’s impossible to compare the 2 scenarios. Hunt would never ask to join the tigers

Didn’t Hunt settle into hooker nicely today (At least I think that’s where he went)

Forget Madge. He wasn't taking us anywhere.

The real motivation should be that if the Broncos can go from spooners to premiers in 5 years there is no excuse for us not at the very least playing finals footy in the next year or so.

My recollection was that Madge was undermined by the players liberation army.

Including one of the most senior leaders we have installed now.

He had a very bad run at Souths after his hey day, despite unearthing some very talented players.

I think he would the first to credit Kevvie for some crackers in his side, but he threaded the needle.

Weve been a dogs breakfast since Tim was summoned to oversee him and then took his job.

If we had a proper coach and merit based appointments I would agree with you.

We all witnessed two teams play footy tonight and I’d hazard a guess that none of us have seen our Tigers play like that for a very long time.

It’s very hard to watch on a personal level. Depressing to see the power, agility, effort and energy from both of those sides and contrast it to us.

If three of our players combined had Walshy’s stats, I’d be ecstatic.

Benji should make the boys watch that game every night for the entire off season.

Even in the presser, Bellamy was talking about their pre season training. Whoa!

Agree.
I recall the players squealing when Madge made them continue training during the finals period.
But 2026 training starts proper today.

I was watching the highlights of the GF and it struck me, that something I had read a few years ago is true, while many sportsman at the top level are good players, it's only those who are willing to do the 1% things that are the truly elite.
Reece Walsh is a great example of that.
I don't think we have many of them, (I think Luai, Tay May, Api are) but a few others need to step up and earn their money.

Great game. Walsh was great. Man was great. Hass was pretty good.

I have to mention Stef and Bellamy's systems. Stef was crap. He made 2 handling errors (one which he got let off with off a dodgy call), he made a couple of good runs but overall he was poor. He was just like he was with us.

Madge can coach. I don't think he was a dud with us due to the players not being tough enough or he was getting white anted. He just didn't have the cattle.

I'd argue Luai and Api are two guys that aren't earning their money. These two need to step up for us.
While I think both players weren't showing their best at times, my point was, that they are willing to do the tough stuff, but they need a few more willing to be doing it with them as well.
I think we had a reasonable year considering, but I refer to some of our losses, especially our last 3 games, where we faded badly as examples, we just aren't quite there yet, but hopefully next year where we basically now have a settled squad for the next 2 seasons to make it happen.

I think those two guys are the ones who need to step up the most. I think AD for instance played well above himself last year.

I don't think it's toughness although sometimes that matters. I'll give an example - sometimes Api is real tough in his tackling technique but he gives away a penalty. Penalties kill you. Api can also be extremely creative at dummy half. We need more of his creativity.

I think if somehow we can get the players playing to their ability we can have a good season and even a couple of good seasons.

I agree that we didn’t have the cattle, but I don’t think the club or the players bought in to Madge’s philosophy, you only had to go back through the media at the time, especially towards the end of his stint to know that the machinations within the club were negative and corrosive, and it wasn’t just any individual responsible, the soul of the club was the same for years it wasn’t just with Madge, at every turn it seemed there was too many excuses and no one prepared to batten down the hatches and do the tough stuff. We just churned through coach after coach as an excuse.

Benji lol he was one of the leaders of the oust Madge club because he was too tough and expected players to aim up.
