I'm not so sure. He got an average side Dogs side to a GF with a totally new game plan.

I think the Goldy is just built for failure. The footy club and even the city itself offer f**k all to Australia
How they get anyone willing to apply for the job is beyond me.

If chookies do persevere then sure I will praise them

Just can’t see them not trying to buy their way out of this situation like they always do

It’s their dna

Let’s hope the rumours of ponga are just bs

And manu not coming back now there’s an extra 500k a year
Every year I've looked at it we're in the top quartile of 1 club players in our round 1 team.

The "buy their way out" is just the lazy narrative of those who'd rather just take Buzz and Gordie's word as fact than actually look at the information and form their own view.

It is a weird one as no sports teams from the Gold Coast have ever had any success but you'd expect with the lifestyle that the city can offer and the huge junior catchment area they have (In the NRL at least) that they'd easily be able to be competitive.

Personally I don't understand why the club has rarely been able to attract a true superstar of the game and why they're never even really linked to them. I think the last and perhaps only one they had was Jarryd Hayne coming back from the NFL but that was almost a decade ago now.

There's not too many full time coaching roles in professional sport in Australia, let alone in Rugby League. For $500K+ and a place near the beach on the Gold Coast, I could force myself to deal with failure week-in, week-out.
I would want far more than that TBH because it's career suicide. Literally no one has got another head coaching gig in the NRL after coaching the titans.

But Illias makes his son look average instead of plain terrible. Clever tactic.

Flanno junior is twenty six with over a hundred first grade games.

How the f**k he has avoided media scrutiny for his absolute shitless is amazing.

He's also allegedly a halfback too.

Ilias is terrible but has played half the games.

Being a nepo baby when your dad has media connections really pays off.

There have been plenty of reasons why past iterations of Gold Coast teams have been shit.
But the main reason why the Titans have been shit for the past almost a decade is Jarryd Hayne.
Pissed off all the players they had by bludging, got Neil Henry sacked and then f**ked off.
I dunno if they were going to be premiership juggernauts but they were building nicely until the owners ignored Henry and signed Hayne.

Yep.....before Hayne, I thought the Titans really did put up a fight for the early parts of their existence.
I also remember Ash Taylor going quite well before Hayne showed up. Hayne's arrival certainly did seem a turning point for the club.
