Quite possibly the most Newcastle Knight incident of all time. Hope the poor bastard is okay.

Poor kid. Obviously he’s a devastating loss but footy really is secondary when something like this happens.

Terrible news! Hope he makes a full recovery and returns without lasting affects!

There is no reason at all to even consider letting him play again this year. A surgeon is going to be very strict about clearing him for contact. He may be out for a prolonged period including the off season. This is months of recovery with or without surgery. I have seen this in my field of work and the fact he kept playing with it tells you how tough this Warrior is. This is agony on another level. The HIA was a Godsend.

Did he keep playing? Pretty sure he came off pretty much straight away

Ponga will be out for a whiles.

The Knights and QLD fullback has been diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury.
Ponga will begin his rehabilitation with Knights medical staff, with the view of returning to play in the back end of the season.

No way he comes back for the end of the season. There’s no point anyway. They’re just writing that so the fans don’t become too depressed, especially after Sharpe.

Not just the fact they got injured, but 2 Lisfrancs and a ruptured spleen is truly rotten luck.

One of my concerns going into this season is that we had surprisingly good injury luck last season - I guess this is that evening itself out.
