I know it's only round 5 but could we be looking at a completely different top 4 this year?
The comp seems very even so far this year with only the Bulldogs being the standout team defensively.
I know it's early days but when was the last time the top 4 teams from the year before didn't make it the next year?

Possibly, but I still think the good teams will end up rising to the top. It’s so early and usually the ladder in round 4 ends up being completely different come the end of the season.

I will say though that Penrith don’t seem to have the same capacity to cover injuries anymore and the Sharks look pretty soft. I still think both will end up in the top 4 at the end of the year but it’s definitely the most open competition for a while.

Storm will be up there again no doubt. The Roosters will obviously be replaced with another team.

Well after last night and tonight Panthers, Sharks and Roosters may miss the top 4.

Melbourne should make it, but bar the game against Parramatta haven't been too convincing. I think they are a lock baring injuries though.

Obviously I'd like to see Penrith in the top 4 again but I would be happy to see Bulldogs, Warriors, Raiders, Tigers or Titans make it this year.

If that were to happen then the salary cap is finally working.

With no salary cap, Penrith would give StGeorge's 11 premierships a real crack.

Penrith have generally been slow starters the last few years. Not to this extent but they’ve lost Luai and had Cleary and Edwards missing games already. Once they have the whole side back on deck they’ll be okay. Maybe not too 4 but definitely top 8.
