I know this isn’t about NRL team jerseys, but as a long-time devoted and passionate NRL fan, I couldn’t help but notice something interesting from a screen grab of a recent trial match. This year’s referee apparel has brought back the iconic NFL-style 2006 orange prison bar striped jersey—familiar to many nostalgic fans, especially those who remember it from the NRL Rugby League Live 2 PS2 video game!

I’m personally thrilled to see the evolution of referee jerseys into a more professional look. Moving away from the forgettable plain jerseys, they now command more respect and authority, both in person and on TV.

Yeah, it looks like the refs have Orange & black stripes and bright green & black stripes as their two main options.

That should cover-off most of the match-ups we see, though I would like to see a black & white striped ref's jersey to allow the Raiders (Green) v Tigers (Orange) to play in their total colourful glory.

Should have been Dolphins jersey from Day 1 and forever more. It would become iconic in the same way St's, Dogs etc jersey designs have become.
